will be testing this coming up in a few weeks:thumb:
not having a good phone connection and the huge time difference right now prevented me from taking the custom-built route. however, i don't think i will regret this purchase at all

Not sure about the demand for boots, but like I said having the tubing made to eliminate the need for angled boots would be awesome for racers and pullers. We could carry one long piece of 3" silicone and cut off what we need to replace a blown boot. And they are less prone to failure in the first place.

I agree 100 % not to mention the fact that the price for a GM boot is crazy expensive and its a wierd angle ....I can get silicone hoses for cheap in straight section getting a 30* is not so easy to find

who'd you call? i got mine from Mark at Big Hog Customs (on DP). he had the lowest price of any vendor that PM'd me a quote.

I was dealing with a warranty issue (Turbo) with BD directly, so once that was figured out I asked Vic (I believe) to transfer me over to the sales department so I could order the intercooler. He said the sales guy was on the other line but he would pass my info his way and he would get back to me ASAP.. Not a big deal as I am still a couple months out before I will need it but I would like to have it here ready to go in when I get the twins:thumb: BTW Henry, I did not realize you were a vendor for them, good to know:)

The AFE tube gets rid of the angled boot. I blew three stock angled boots apart one after another, I have had the AFE tube and boot on now for almost a year and not one bit of trouble. I know I am not pushing the boost you guys are but just giving ya a heads up.

I have a bd inter cooler and had an sdp egr delete, and the two did not work together, i had big twin diesel fab the tube to accept a straight silicone boot/hose for the new connection, the stock hot side tube and boot fit perfect, i only run about 40 psi right now and never had an issue blowin boots, but the boot that bd sent out with the intercooler for the return end(not to bash) was less than impressive, and as i said did not come close to working with The sdp cold pipe, I like it now though it cost me for the custom work.

As for the intercooler, i dont notice any pressure drop, spools the same and egt's are nice and cool, on my level five efi tune i see appx 200° drop from stock potential, un-loaded while under boost, i have yet to tow with it.

The fit was flawless, and i really like how bd thought to contour the cooler to match the bend/shape of the nose of the truck, really trick if you ask me. I did have to remove the risers that hold up the a/c heat exchanger and braise on a mount to the support for the hood latch bracket, if y'all follow what im sayin, to support the heat exchanger. I did this cuz there was a slight amount of contact between the riser and bd cac, bending it away from the cac lent it to break so that was my solution.

All and all im very happy with it!

you can't knock BD for it not fitting with your aftermarket parts - it is made to fit with stock parts. When you start mixxing aftermarket parts you will run into needing to customize some things. The trucks I've put BD intercoolers in never had the other clearance issue you mentioned.

lets clarify

I have a bd inter cooler and had an sdp egr delete, and the two did not work together

edit duh who would expect it to

, the boot that bd sent out with the intercooler for the return end(not to bash) was less than impressive

edit yes for a $1300 intercooler, it could be better, it fits perfect with stock components

As for the intercooler, i dont notice any pressure drop, spools the same and egt's are nice and cool, on my level five efi tune i see appx 200° drop from stock potential, un-loaded while under boost, i have yet to tow with it.

Edit ive towed with it and it maintains air charge much better than stock, tows much smoother, dare i say, more efficient, I'm not, sure yet

Othergirl-
I never once put down bd for fit or finish, gm could have been off an 1/8 on the mount for the heat exchanger riser, who cares, simple issue caused by me that was easily resolved,, that i like better any how

Thanks for the feedback, I do not think the OP was bashing BD but I am glad to hear he is satisfied with the finished products :thumb:
