I think I see it hanging down in this pic.

That would be my guess too. He couldn't find it even after I showed hime a picture of the location at and what it looked like
Look at the MAF sensor in his pictures. It's not even screwed in....
Haha your right. I would not be surprised if there was all sorts of little things like that to fix. Not that it bothers me too much

So I couldn't get a clear picture, But I believe there is a small bracket in the back that supports the EGR cooler. Hopefully they left it and you don't have to go digging for one but I am sure Ebay has everything but the catalytic converter. Since it's Not Legal to sell used catalytic converters...

It has an LBZ mouth piece so it can breath. Just need to secure that sensor.

Other than that, secure the correct up pipe, cooler, and OEM mouth piece.

Awesome. Thanks. I saved it in my watch list. Saved a handful of EGR actuators and coolers. Some listings say it fits LBZ and LMM. Any idea if that's true? Would open up possible vehicles near me that are being parted out

I didn't see any stock air filter boxes on eBay. I guess I can keep the one that's one it for the time being. Shouldn't have any issues with smog check on that

If it makes you feel any better, there is no intake heater on the LLY. Also, I wouldn't be too worried about him being firm on the price. If you show up with cash and a willingness to walk away, most people will move when push comes to shove. If not, passing on a deal is better than overpaying for a project.
So I assume this part is from the late LLY that is actually an LBZ since it has a grid heater

And this part is for a true LLY?

Lly grid heater = Lbz for sure. I’ll be losing my EGR but I believe the Kodiak pipe is different. I’ll snap a pick. I can also get you a clear pic of the up pipe if needed.

So this is the LLY EGR like the one my 05 has.

It's hard to get a clear picture on the engine because the coolant tube is in the way. But the pink tag looks the same and has the same part number. Serial number is obviously different.

Why do I keep doing this?

I never thought Id ever see a conversation on this Duramax performance forum talking about putting an EGR system BACK ON. WT-ever-loving-F?!?!?!?!

Have all the "Fixya" newbies wanting their stock trucks remotely repaired (bc they dont know anything) really wrecked you guys that badly?

IMO, the catalytic converter I don't mind.

The EGR I absolutely despise. On paper it sounds good, How ever what it does to the engine and the intake tract... its far more detrimental. I think with some of the modern tuning and new injector technology they can run efficent with out them.

The after treatment systems. Nope! Total BS.... I wish i would have saved the Papers from universities and 3rd party labs that tested it's effect on the environment. They done everything possible to bury that stuff deep. You cant hardely find any thing written before 2021 and it all tells you it's good stuff.

The old papers showed that they grey suit produced from the regen process was harmful as it wasnt naturally occuring. It smothered plant life and had the same effect on aquatic ecosystems. Furthermore it doesn't just break down and go away...

Yep. The DPF basically breaks down the particles until they are essentially the same byproducts as what you get when you burn gasoline. The smaller particles can penetrate deeper into the lung tissue and plants. Without the DPF the larger unburnt carbon will harmlessly fall to the ground where it might actually be beneficial. But no, it's visible so I don't like it. Make it invisible so I don't know it's there 🤦‍♂️
