Cheapest FICM i have seen in a while...
Wow. That is. Still way over priced but I guess that's supply and demand.

I'd like to get my hands on some "dead" ones to repair and use as backups. I wonder is SIA has any they deam "unrepairable" that they would part with for cheap

Only about 1 1/2 hours from me, not that I need it that bad. He would probably ship it to anyone who wanted it
talk him down to $500...

I see a "Core" on Ebay for $400... I wonder if the guy could be talked down? He states vehicle doesn't run with this unit.

I thought he meant it doesn't run because he needed an LB7 FICM and he accidentally pick up an LLY. So likely still a good FICM. $500 seems like a good deal. If you need a spare that would be a good option

So the guy in Wilmington IL that has his listed for $3150 responded. Said PayPal friends and family. Red flag!

Might have to pass on that one unless someone near is able to look at the vehicle for me and maybe assist in the funds transfer. I can chip in a few Benjamin's if it helps.

Long day cutting trees and cleaning up bc of the storm last night. Power is still out, and looks like may not be restored for a few days.

Yay. Not.

We got a whole home auto switching generator installed at our house about a year ago. We don't deal with many power outages, but it has already come in handy the few times we have.

I have an appointment to go up to Medford Oregon this coming weekend to look at and likely purchase the truck. Was able to talk him down to $9500. We was pretty adamant about the price is firm but with those wheels 🤮 and I found out (sort of hinted at it with the post stating that it is deleted) EGR has beed removed along with the intake heater and related parts. So I discussed how much work that would be and the cost I'd have to put out to make it smoggable and be able to register it in California. He reluctantly agreed to drop the price but only $500. He also said he would put stock tires back on for me. I think that is the only real reason he is dropping the price. Because he can sell those wheels separately and make that money back.

I also took a look at this truck yesterday

Way above my budget but he does seem willing to negotiate a lower price since it's been sitting for a while with no buyers. Would have to find new bumpers as those homemade ones are not what I want on mine. And restore the exhaust. Remove the 35" tires and get something more reasonable. I think I'll keep this one in my back pocket as a backup in case the one in Medford falls through. I would rather have the LLY with it's exceedingly rare FICM 😁. But the emissions system is much easier to deal with then the vacuum actuated LB7's is. Plus you get the external injectors. Lucky this backup that is local to me is a tier 1 emissions so no EGR and vacuum pump.

I was surprised to see that it still has the California glow plug controller with individual wires to each one. Was not expecting that.

So which ever one I end up with, I will likely miss the thread deadline 🤣

Funny thing is, I had a brand new, 10 y/o 7500w genny out in the garage, still in its box. I bought it in 2013 after the big ice storm that year, and didnt need it since. So Roni and I unboxed it, gassed and oiled it and fired it up. That initially got the fridge and freezer up and running, but I had to figure out what to do about the house, as we still didnt have water, lights or septic. Nobody in our area had the L14-30 plug I needed for the genny. Called one of my friends on my route who runs an electrician outfit, and they had one. Bought that + 25ft of 10/4 cable, and with a little creative wiring, got the house up and running. Roni was very happy to be able to take a shower.

Power was restored Sunday night, 8pm. After three 12hr days + 4 hours this morning, tree cleanup is all done, too. Thank God thats done.
Im getting too old for this shit.

Any Chance the LLY guy has any of the removed parts?

There is always Ebay if not.
None. He said he bought it like that. Didn't sound like he had it for very long. Didn't sound too knowledgeable about where the EGR was supposed to be. Tried to have him take some photos of the area the EGR was supposed to be so I could see if they butchered it, just used a block off plate or whatever and he was taking pictures of everything else. I eventually got what I needed. Looks like they just pulled the EGR and put a plate on the exhaust connection. Then replaced the intake with an aftermarket so no grid heater or EGR connection. He couldn't find any of the harness connectors for it so I'm hoping they didn't cut them off.

I did already start saving a few items in my watch list on eBay to start putting it back together. Any idea if the LBZ EGR will work on an LLY?or what parts in general that I might need that will be compatible? I figure the exhaust and CAT from a California LB7 or an LBZ will also work. How about the intake/manifold? I thought I remember it being popular a while back to put the less restrictive LBZ on on the LLY

Also did he ever say what the Extra's were that are supposedly included?
Which listing? I don't remember the 2005 listing stating it had anything more then the toolbox. The 2001 listed a bunch of items. Non really excite me much. I like my truck to be a sleeper with no obvious modifications. Other than tires which you can't hide. I didn't see anything else that he didn't list or talk about when I looked at the truck. Sounded like he knew enough to have an idea of how the truck ran and the various parts but not enough to be dangerous. He said he has a friend that works in a diesel shop that did most of the work. And another friend that built the bumpers for him. He was big on rock crawlers and was trying to have the truck sold so he could find a crew cab in time for him to attend the king of the hammers event.

Both vehicles would probably take the same amount of work, time and money to make it closer to how I'd want. But the 05 would probably be a better truck in the end. So that's the one I decided to pursue first.

If it makes you feel any better, there is no intake heater on the LLY. Also, I wouldn't be too worried about him being firm on the price. If you show up with cash and a willingness to walk away, most people will move when push comes to shove. If not, passing on a deal is better than overpaying for a project.

Jason, I think at this point maybe you should take a step back and wait for other trucks to become available.

Looks like he might have edited it but it says comes with some new parts?

The only difference on the LBZ cat it there is no bolt up flange. But you should be able to make it work. I know a guy that has some extra full length cats now... ;)

He can also post pictures of an LLY for you too... :ROFLMAO:

I agree on the price thing and negotiating.

My LBZ donor started out that way. I flew out to look at it Vs. the drive with 2 trucks and 2 trailers. It was supposed to be repairable with an extra frame... He stuck to his price. So I walked. When I got back to the airport 45 minutes later I noticed he already droped the price $1000. I let it ride and he started texting me a few days later. I told him where I was and he came down a little more but he wanted to keep the 2 new batteries and the head unit. We were so close. I finally told him look, I know your buddy wants that bed. It's better than his and the same color as his truck. Why don't you keep that bed, give me the 4x4 flares of his old bed and I will swap a bed I have on it here. I also had a GMC grille and a hood that I wasn't using and didn't have much money in that I also traded him.

In the end, the guy removed somethings they wanted to keep that I had no use for and I got him to my price.
