I went to VA beach this past Saturday with a buddy to get his 48re built by Tim Barber (the Dodge equivalent of MikeL) and I am here to say I finally grasp the HUGE difference between a rebuild and a professional performance build. Unbelievable! His trans was fixed 6x by a local shop and we finally said screw it and took it to a pro. If I have any issues I'm with my trans going to big dipper now. I used to think a build was a build, I could not have possibly been more wrong!!! Do it right the first time guys!
Is there a kit or place that would sell me a kit for my LMM that you would recommend Mike L? I know this is a loaded question but for my personal use. No sledpulls, dont have them here in the South. 1/8 or 1/4 mile pass from time to time. DD for the most part. Thanks for your help.
This is why I am asking Mike L where I need to go to get a great build.

Who would be putting this kit together? I no longer sell kits to anyone that is not experienced doing these. Too many stupid mistakes.
Is there some one you suggest in my general area. I have heard there's a guy in Peoria IL that used to work for merchant building Allison's but I can't remember who it was. Lol. I am in Madison WI.

The alligator kit will hold over 800hp chad has it in his truck and he is at 1200hp fuel only. Every one bashing the kit.. you can easily request to have the modded apply pistons along with the apply plate added with your order.. With my kit from alligator i installed the modded pistons and apply plate. So it will hold over the 800hp mark you are claiming Dimitri.

Damn Dimitri, I guess we don't at all know what we are talking about or what it takes to make an Allison hold up to power. I mean we have both trapped at least 135 mph in the 1/4 in full weight street trucks; we came in 1st and 2nd place in the trailer tow portion of the 2010 Diesel Power Challenge, holding nothing back while towing 10,000 lbs; we took 1st and 3rd overall; we both drive the hell out of our high power trucks everyday; and we both have built quite a few transmissions; but this guy defending Alligator's kits is probably right.
Funny thing is that looking on Alligator's site I see that the "Alligator Performance race truck" has a SunCoast Stage IV and 1058 converter, which is also what the picture show... Then I was trying to find some track times from the truck but couldn't and unless I am missing it I don't see it on the Top 50 list...

The kit is advertised as holding way more power than what it would live reliably behind - they cut a few big corners on quality but only cut the price enough to try to undercut the other kits on the market.

Chads truck is NOT 1200 on fuel only!! he has never hit over a thousand on fuel only at any competition!! he dynoed 838 fuel in spokan WA, i was right there when that happened! He only dynoed 936 on our dyno fuel only at industrials dyno day!! He claimes to have dynoed over a thousand on edges dyno FUEL only, but seems a bit odd when a couple weekends LATER he could only do 838 in spokan! Then after the dyno event we went to the track to race and on the way there his same 838 hp truck blew the tranny up on the way to the track racing me on the street!! As i continued to the track running back to back 10.19 at 138 and 10.2 at 139, plus other low ten second passes? Now im not saying my truck is better but i have a kit rated for my power does he?? They advertise a few different kits as you know, but it needs to be clear there rating, can you agree on that?? I AM NOT BASHING there kit just simply stated what a kit is rated for with what comes in it for parts!!, he has a bad ass ride, im just saying that kit is wayyyyyyyy over advertised for what it can actually handle!! and people need to know what there buying, now were getting to a day and age where we need to trust the product were buying to be true as advertised right?? We know trannys CAN BE RESPONSIBLE for taking down mototrs, you want to invest 30,000 plus dollars and buy a tranny kit underrated for the job be my guest!! Now that kit has its place for up to around 640 i would say with the right tunning and supporting mods! you go above that then you need a stage higher, which includes a different pack setup as you have said with the OPTION out pieces you stated PLUS more!! Do you really think first time trasmission kit buyers know to option out what could be better!! think about it!! THESE are the facts you want to prove me wrong you show me a low 10sec truck without modded plates pistons ect.......at our weight, seens how chads truck is a crew cab at 7300 pounds and i am a crew cab at 7000 pounds surly you shouldnt have much problem finding me an example?
