My car was finally built on June 10th (original schedule, May 19). However, it is still sitting in a field outside the factory with 200-300 other Z/28's waiting to be shipped. Why? I do not know.

Robert and I will probably turn the junk Z06 into a track car.

GM has a shortage of rail cars...

That is why it is taking soooo long. I had to bitch my ass off to get mine in a reasonable amount of time...

Pretty sure my dad will be getting rid of the 13 srt8 Challenger. He traded the 13 srt8 GC for a 14 so he could get the 8 speed and the launch control. Lol. Ought to be a beast.

Either that or electric. A Dmax's torque will destroy the MN6 and Getrag. They don't handle over 700ftlb for very long.

And, it's a very large, very heavy engine. The leafs are traverse fiberglass, so you are limited in how much weight you can deal with.

FWIW, I heard the hellcat went 10.80 in the 1/4

No real "track" numbers are in, just straight line bragging rights, but who knows, with numbers like that in the 1/4 if it handles just "pretty good" it'll be a fierce competitor.

I'm waiting to see Chevys response in the form of the new ZR1, the suspense is killing me since the new Z06 is so (to sum it up) amazing!

Time will tel I suppose, but GM definitely has it's hands full in regards to the hellcat

10.8 with Richard Rawlings at the wheel at that.

The car did have DR's on it, supposedly it ran 11.2 or 11.4 with factory equipped tires.
I gotta admit, it's not really apples to apples to compare the Hellcat to the Vette for the simple reason that the Hellcat has a back seat, so that puts it squarely into the "muscle car" category and the Vette sits in the "super car" category. So as much as I'd like to, waiting for the ZR1 to come out to compare against the Hellcat wouldn't make a "true" comparison

I'd still take a boosted (SC), or heads and cam and full exhaust (and a shot of N2o) ZL1 camaro over the Hellcat anyday.

GM for life!

but that statement doesn't mean I don't appreciate the Hellcat for what it is, a badass American muscle car, kudos to dodge for finally making something with balls that's worth talking about, (that doesn't have a V-10) screw the Viper

It's a Mopar and it'll always be a pile of junk to me, regardless of power or track times. It's cool to watch these modern day HP wars unfold though. Can't wait to see GMs response.

I read a few different reviews saying the launch control was pretty good. A monkey could probably get the same results. :D

That's what I was getting at lol. Turn the baby sitter off and get someone who can drive in the seat and I bet it would do better.

It should really be compared to a camaro more than a corvette.

I wouldnt be so sure about that.......

Car electronics arent "dumb" anymore. When are people going to realize that???

Modern electronics and traction/stability control systems have incredible capabilities, many times exceeding what a human driver is physically capable of. Show me a human driver who can make fractional-percentage adjustments to the throttle, and regulate braking pressure to each drive wheel individually/separately, hundreds of times a second, and Ill show you a powerstroke that can fly to the moon.

Believe what you want, but if anyone really thinks the latest ESC/TCS technology is a "joke" and a "really good driver" is way better, then they're just plain ignorant.

Inherently-aerodynamically-unstable aircraft (B2, F117, and the latest business jet that Gulfstream is working on) literally wouldnt even be able fly without electronics. Meaning, even the best pilot wouldnt even be able to manually keep the aircraft from upsetting and spiraling out of control without computers assisting control inputs/making minute control surface adjustments hundreds of times a second.

Not ALL care electronics are "dumb". Most on the other hand....

A computer can never anticipate what's next. They're purely reactive.

not even close to being true...Bens got it spot on!

even the computers in the Allison 1000 predict values needed for the next shift
;)

modern TCS/ecs does predict as well, based of dozens if not hundreds of vehicle parameters, how well they predict, that's an entirely different story
