67 c10 duramax build

Wrecked my 02 lb7, only had liability on it so I bought a 67 c10 to put on the 02 chassis.

Plan on making it look like a restored pickup with a few upgrades that look like they belong with the era. I'm going to be maintaining alot of the modern stuff like abs, tccm, bcm, electric windows, electric locks etc.

I had it running after I stripped the body off of it, then unhooked the majority of the harness to start test fitting the 67 cab.

I was pretty pissed when I rolled it, it was so close to where I wanted it and I had pretty much rebuilt everything from front to back. It makes for a good donor truck for the 67 though. I did some measuring last night and it looks like everything will fit pretty easily. I'll have to run electric fans it looks like though.

Cool project, I like the idea of putting the cab onto your frame. After all the work i'm doing to my 67 frame to beef up the spaghetti noodle frame rails this would be ideal. How's the cab as far as rust? Typical rocker panels and cab corners? Looks pretty straight, nice find!

I need to replace one cab corner, the passenger side core support needs some work, and there is a little but of rust just starting on bottom side that will easy to replace. Also needs a passenger fender as it's smashed in pretty good.

Repositioned the hoist and got the cab lowered into position, I still need to get it squared up before making the mounts. This is roughly the height it will sit, looks like I won't have to move the back cab mounts but the fronts will have to be moved back 12 inches and I'll be able to make 4 identical mounts to weld in and won't have to weld the nuts in as I'll have wrench access. Good news is I won't have to modify the trans tunnel like I thought I would, bad news is massive amounts of work will need to be done to the cross member to fit the intercooler and radiator.

Right now it's still decranked with 3 inch drop shackles, plan on going back to stock shackles and cranking the keys to level.

I prefer the 69-72 hood/front compared to the 67/68 but I LOVE those trucks regardless. Putting it on the more modern chassis is 100% the way to go. Looking forward to seeing this come together. :coolspot:

I was originally going to buy a 72 but due to scheduling conflicts I was unable to go get it. Then this one popped up for the same price and almost no rust so it was a no brainer.

For the sake of simplicity and using a Duramax yeah definitely the way to go but for performance and a gas motor I'd still use the original frame there is a bigger aftermarket for them. Regardless it's gonna be one hell of a truck when finished.

Was planning on welding in the new mounts on the cab yesterday but found some rust I need to address first. Patch panels are on the way.

Anyways had a little time tonight to work on it so I got the drivers side frame mount moved back.
