Long time ago, I built a DSP2 tune that would "two step" for the lights, but never used it because the way I read the prostreet rules, it would be illegal. And it was just one more thing to worry about.

But hooking a relay to brake light that grounds the second DSP2 tune that is capped at 2500 rpm (depending on your converter), would keep the RPM and power capped at a modest level for staging. When you release the brake, it goes WOT.

Perhaps it's time to re-investigate that...

The Race

It was a good time and I got to meet a lot of new faces! I wish I was not having problems so I could have talked more. I want to say a big thanks to Brayden and Chase for all the help and first class parts! Without there turbo I never would have never ran as fast as I did. I ran over 124 in the 90 plus heat with a weak tranny. We were running 2nd gear starts to help with holding it back(which it did very well) but it didn't like 40plus boost any! We are going to get it fixed and with there help i'm pretty sure we can run with Seth and Matt both. I had a .063 light and a .090 something but it was hard to hold. I also would like to thank Todd and TJ for the ride in the gamblers race. Todd's truck runs very good and I kept lifting so I didn't run it out until the last pass. I left to soft and only ran a 1.9 60, But i sure that truck will run a high 11 or very low 12 with the 1/8 times it was running. Also Todd you need to look on I think the first pass(timeslip) and you will see a .001 reaction time! I wish that would have counted for the $500 bonus! All in all it was a great time and I would love to move to that area and live!! I love that place. Thanks again and now it's time to get it ready for the TS Super Stock race. Thanks Everyone

Sounds like a cool idea, but kinda dangerous too. You better remember to flip the DSP or no brakes

So it would limit rpm to 2,500 so you could hold the brake to the floor? Then switch tunes when you let off the brake?

Sorry I thought it meant when the brake was pressed it would hold the rpms at 2500. That does sound like a nice idea :thumb:

What Pat is talking about is not dangerous. Your using the brakes as your switch rely so you can to say hold the pedal to the floor and be limited to 2500 rpms once the single is broke as in brake is released the tune switchs to a higher rpm tune and all hell breaks loose lol nothing would happen if you were driving along and had the switch on this tune aslong as you were not holding the brake and the go pedal to the floor at the same time.

Yes, all applying the brake pedal will do is limit the engine output and RPM. Normal driving isn't affected.

Once the tune is loaded, you creep up on the beams until you trip the second beam, then you floor it. It won't go past 2500 rpm no matter what. Now your brake pedal becomes launch control. When you lift the brake, the engine get max fuel because it will now run on the main tune.

Anyone with an LBZ or LMM can use the brake torque management tables for that. I have never tried it on an LLY or LB7, but I know it works on my truck (LBZ) and my dad's truck (LMM).

You are correct, .001 :thumb: No way Jeff can my truck run that it's only a single pump truck & it weighs too much  Thanks again Jeff, we'll see you at the next one :)

Brakes

It's funny what a picture will tell someone! I was just looking at the pictures on comp d and noticed that Seth's truck has a hyd. pump in the back. He's not running power steering with a normal belt driven pump. Very smart!! He has higher than normal pressure at ANY RPM to hold the brakes via hydro boost! That would help alot on staging. Very smart, less drag anypressure you want(within reason).

I don't want to hi-jack this thread but that is an interesting topic that I would like to learn more about!!

Plus you could put a switch on the ground wire from the brake pedal so the whole setup could be "turned off" so to speak

Thats a really cool idea btw (LC)

tried it with both 01 and a 02 op system and it didnt do anything

best thing is to work the tables JMHO

LBZ brake table

I tryed it on mine last year and had mixed results. One time it would work good and the next time it would want to push. I'm no super tuner so it could have been me but it seemed to be affected by heat and fuel temp maybe. I would love to see it work, It would make it a lot easier to get of the line.
