I've had this 1792 lift pump for about a year and a half and it went out on me about a month ago my question is what other options are out there that will last a little longer and perform just as well or better.

I haven't done anything with mine yet it's just laying here and what do you mean by cut it open? I called Edelbrock to see if there was a rebuild kit but no luck all I got was a guy that was freak out about how it was not for diesel applications

Maybe you could send it to PPE have have them rebuild it and replace the gaskets with the ones they use in the PPE lift pump?

WICKED DIESELS

you need more fuel
The PPE verison on the 1792 is working great with the updates they had done to it

Yeah, those were my discoveries. I was in constant contact with Tim at Essex, the pumps manufacturer. I came up with a Nitrile seal to replace the Viton seal, which would expand due to the aromatics of ULSD, not to mention they were installing the seal upside down. We installed a National seal #350435. The next area of concern is the motor shaft, it is not induction hardened, but needs to be. We also incorporated a weep hole (our pumps) in the pump body. In the event of seal failure, fuel would bypass the bearing and drip outside. Common failure is the seal eating into the shaft, fuel bypassing the seal, washing out the bearing, motor filling with diesel and quickly burning out the brushes. The success of the PPE pump, is because of all of our failures, that I paid for.
