Yeah, those were my discoveries. I was in constant contact with Tim at Essex, the pumps manufacturer. I came up with a Nitrile seal to replace the Viton seal, which would expand due to the aromatics of ULSD, not to mention they were installing the seal upside down. We installed a National seal #350435. The next area of concern is the motor shaft, it is not induction hardened, but needs to be. We also incorporated a weep hole (our pumps) in the pump body. In the event of seal failure, fuel would bypass the bearing and drip outside. Common failure is the seal eating into the shaft, fuel bypassing the seal, washing out the bearing, motor filling with diesel and quickly burning out the brushes. The success of the PPE pump, is because of all of our failures, that I paid for.

The first one that failed I called Dan and sent it to him, I also told them to look at the filter that was in the side on the inlet,The 1792's were plastic and were getting soft and sucking shut.

Flow thru can be misleading.

During our CP3 testing, I played with turning the lift pump on and off.

Sometimes the 1792 is 100% flowthru, other times it blocks 75% of the fuel, and everywhere in between. It depends on where the gear stops.

I run the FASS 150 on a boost activated switch with a bypass so if it fails I won't have to get under the truck on the side of Interstate 5...No trouble with the pump after approx. 40,000 miles...

What about the Raptor 150 just the pump or the Air dog 150 system and dose it make that much difference to buy the system? I know it's suppose to get the air out of the fuel.

I did install a fass 150 system on a 06 dodge with the big hose kit and the guy said it ran smoother and quieter and gave him 2 tenths over the stock pump.

I like this idea for longevity. Can you hook me up with the circuit?

Boost activated switch is similar to this, I found one a few years ago that was 15 psi...

This relay will work...

My bypass involves a Perma-Cool dual inlet/outlet fuel/water separator-filter and a poppet style check valve...

Thanks Chris. So I guess a Hobbs switch and a bosch relay and a check valve is really all I need. Which is handy cause we have LOTS of both at work!;)

I can't believe I didn't think of doing this sooner!!
