He clames he gets 27mpg on the interstate and he says he was raceing someone on the interstate doing 140mph shifted into 6th and just walked away from the other truck. This kid gets me so mad with his bs tells erveyone how much power his truck has and its so fast. i cant wait to race and beat him!

Sounds like a money maker to me. Not sure about the 140 MPH BS, sounds a little strerched though dick that dynoed my truck ran it to 168 in 6th. I thought the tires were gonna fly apart.

I bet it would go that fast on a dyno but on the street fastest dmax log i have ever seen was 143, and that was scary as hell. Who the hell wants to do 168 mph in a 3/4 ton truck on the street??

the speed limiter on my truck is still set at 95mph, im not joking. Because there is absolutely NO REASON (or excuse) to be going faster than that unless you're at the track. Im all for launching and doing fun 0-80 runs and crap like that, but leave the 100mph+ bullshit to vehicles that are actually designed for it. And even then, I dont allow it unless Im the one driving, and im the only person in the vehicle. If Im in someone elses truck/car and they feel the need to go faster than 100mph for more than a second or two, I have no problem bitching them out/yelling at them to let me out. And if they want to laugh and tell me im a wuss, then go right ahead. I could care less if they die alone. Im only 25 years old and have plenty of stuff left to live for....and im certainly gonna do everything I can to not get that cut short by some dumbass that wants to see what his 7,000lb truck tops out at.

if you're riding with someone and they decide to go 100+mph, what are you gonna do, jump out if they dont slow down?

Throw it in park, turn the key off? Throw my shoe at them? IDFK. Ill make them slow down one way or another. But in reality, what kinda person isnt going to slow down when they are taken by surprise at a passenger who starts yelling in their face...

Like I said, I dont care what they think of me after that. If they think differently of me JUST because I dont share their adrenaline rush and dont feel comfortable putting my life in their hands, then they can go fk themselves.

I specifically make it a point to drive at "75% my normal driving style/speed" when other people are in the truck, and 60% when girls are in the truck (I dunno, maybe I unconsciously feel more protective of them) just because I would feel awful if something happened, and because I know what its like to be in the passenger seat and question the drivers driving...

I agree Ben. Also what I taught my kids. Be in charge of your own destiny. Don't let some dumb ass shorten your life for their fun.

most I ever hit on my GPS was 137 and that was by myself on the interstate with nobody around on a long trip. Feels good to stretch the legs every once in a while. :thumb:

Just make sure you don't turn the key all the way and lock the steering :)

What I got out of this thread is this:

- confirms why nobody else will touch my vehicle if it ever went on a dyno

- above 120mph a dmax can just walk away from a car, the refrigerator aerodynamics really kick in

- Ben is 25 years old.... Surprised me, i'm not talking crap, I just turned 29 on the 15th, just surprised me, figured 30's...

I always thought my truck felt pretty good at those speeds. Not scary feeling in the least.

Guess I have never tested this on our trucks... but I watched a guy I know put his Camaro into the curb when he shut it down to check the plugs after ripping on it. Also know of someone that was in a hurry, started swinging into a parking spot, yanked the keys so they were ready to jump out.... and parked it into another car  ... Do you have to remove the keys for the steering to lock? How does it work on our trucks? just not something I ever do/tried...

Bevi, I hope you get a chance to school that youngster and spank him kindly. From what your telling us, he sounds like he's full of BS, especially the part about getting 27mpg.

There is no steering wheel lock on our trucks.
