No, the wheels arent going to immediately lock up like people think they would. Allison designed the park pawl and output carrier to "ratchet" and "skip" off the engagement teeth above a certain output shaft (vehicle) speed. Specifically for this reason; so if you threw it in park going 5+mph, it WONT "lock in" and break something.

Thats why the trans makes a grinding noise sometimes when you put it in park when in 4wd low. Because of the steep gear reduction, the output shaft might be turning faster than the "minimum engagement speed", yet the truck is only moving maybe 1mph.

Obviously its not good for the trans (throwing it in park when you arent stopped), but its not going to be an immediate explosion of trans parts all over the road.

Interesting... I've heard this noise from my truck in 4 low and didn't know what to attribute it to.

In my experience, the parking pawl on a 6 spd doesnt engage above 5mph.

I don't remember that, I do remember being fed up with things then & wanted to walk away from everything. I did have a problem 7 years ago with pills, alcohol & depression so some things I did or said were out of line.

Doing 140 MPH in a 3/4 ton truck is completely stupid. Not only are the tires not designed for those speeds, neither is the truck.

I think I hit close to 100 ONCE in my truck and that had the butt hole pucker factor way up.

The fact is, you were an ass to me way back when in the diesel place days. You wouldnt leave me alone. I ignored it and played along and was still nice to you, even though it was really annoying at times. So now Im just handing it back to you.

im not saying that im a safety nazi, im not saying Ive never driven my truck fast, and Im not saying you cant go 130mph in your truck and drive like an ass. If you're alone in the truck and no one is around you on the road, go right ahead. What im saying is, driving like that with other people in the vehicle and putting their lives in your hands is a real dick thing to do, and I have zero tolerance for it.
