I didn't buy it until it had 162K miles. I kick myself for changing the set that was in it with 130K miles on them because there was nothing wrong with them. I thought I was doing good by changing them out while it was out of the truck doing the head gaskets during my swap(passenger side was seeping down the back of the block), what a mistake that was. 2nd mistake was trying to save money and putting in pensacola injectors. Theres plenty of LB7's out there with that many miles that have been tuned since early on in life. They are out there, but you primarily only hear about problems, not happy drivers using there trucks. And my head gaskets weren't leaking any compression out, but instead had a small coolant seep down the back of the block on the passenger side.Just picked up a 271000 mile 2003 lb7 with original injectors and head gaskets. I think the only thing made it go this far was the fact it was never tuned.

Yes they're outside the valve covers. Do some searches and you will find LLY's are proving to almost as problematic with injectors as LB7's were. Most shops will tell you flat out they are doing more LLY's than LB7's anymore. And I woudl MUCH rather do LB7 injectors than deal with changing out LLY's.Right.

We still do more lb7 sets of injectors than any other generation. Probably more than all other generations combined.

Ferm, I think that were seeing LLY's because of there age, more miles and hours now. Next will be the LBZ's, then the LMM's etc etc.
I will leave the changing LB7's over LLY's alone...
There are also more lb7's then any other generation, 4 years worth. And they are the oldest.
But now compare an lb7 to an lml I think lb7 injectors are way cheaper then deletes and upkeep on the terribly built lml
In the short time I worked for GM as a tech I did just as many lly/lbz injectors as I did lb7
The've been making lml's longer than lb7s now man!
Yeah and by the time you do full deletes and cp3 conversion just to prevent it from costing you an arm and a leg your in it for more then the price of lb7 injectors and all that just to keep it reliable.
Feeling fine. At least with LB7's you don't have to deal with a friggen injector that's a mile long trying to turn it just right to drop down in the back cylinders, you still have to take all the crap off the top of the engine to do LLY injectors, you have TONS of crap that likes to fall down into the holes when you pull them out, rusted hold down bolts for the injectors, and a few others. I know I'm not alone in this feeling as well. I've done 2 sets of LLY's, and do not care to do another set. And I know of 2 LBZ's right now that need injectors because of P0087, but they don't think LBZ injectors fail so they won't do them. This whole only LB7 injectors fail is getting old. They ALL can fail. At least LB7 injectors are cheaper to buy when they do go. I've seen what a set of LLY's and newer ones cost, NO THANK YOU!You feeling ok, Ferm?
