So the lb7 01- early 04s have injectors problems. What about the 04.5s? That a LLM right? I'm selling my LB7. Looking for a better year?

But they don't all have hg issues. Mine has 240k without issues. Some do some dont. Luck of draw. Like cracked LBZ pistons

LLY headgaskets will eventually let go just like lb7 injectors. Just when is the question

Rrrriiiigggghhhhttttt. I'll keep you updated at 300k With stock headgaskets with max effort tuning. Again that's one hell of a blanket statement

So the LLYs seem pretty good I don't see a lot of major problems with them. What about the LBZs? I'm told that's the best year Duramax?

If you are leaving it stock the LBZ is a good one. If you plan on modding it then IMO it doesn't matter which one you get.

Nothing to extreme. Just the common upgrades. Found an 06 LBZ for 26,000$. Seems a little high 100,000 miles on it?

Stock gaskets and bolts in my Lilly... Only 600 horse though for the last three or four years. 92,000 miles.

I have heard of people having HG issues with all of them. Bad injectors, cracked pistons, HG, Bent rods take your pick, each version has its demons... If you push on them hard enough they will show.

This. None are perfect. If I had to do it again I'd buy my lly all over again. It was a really good truck for the first year and 35k miles. But the last 6 months or so I've turned up the wick and pushed the stock trans for more than it should be capable of holding. Mines got 181,000 miles on stock gaskets and bolts. It sees 30+ pounds of boost regularly. It'll be pushed harder when the tranny is upgraded.
That being said, my dad's lbz has been a great truck for him too.

215k miles here, stock gaskets AND injectors (probably needs them).

IMO buy whatever runs good and doesn't have rust. I'd buy any of them for the right price! With that being said, an LBZ is much more responsive and more fun to drive.

I'm not looking for that many horses. It will be a daily driver.

You can daily drive a max effort tune if you chose... You don't have to flat foot it every where you go:D

I rarely change the tune in my truck, I pull, race, DD it with the same tune. The only time I mess with it is for winter, the bigger tunes at -temps can get a little unruly.

As mentioned above, I would buy any of them for the right price and condition:thumb:

They can all have injector issues. Starting to see alot of LLY's and newer with low rail pressure codes needing injectors because of high return rates. They can all pretty much have HG issues, it's a roll of the dice. My LB7 had inejctors put in it at 32K miles, and it had 162K on it when I bought it and 8 all were still good(I had the bright idea to change them while it was aprt for the swap, and OH what a mess that turned into). It dd need a headgasket because it was seeping coolant out the back, but no compression leaks of any kinds. I sure wouldn't run from an LB7 because I was worried about injectors.

It's just to dang expensive to keep installing new injectors every 30,000 miles.
Ist set in my engine went 32K miles, but those were the 1st style ones for 01. The replacments were put in in 02 and had 130K miles on them when I pulled the engine to do a swap, and all 8 were still good. I got the bright idea to replace them, and 3 sets later got a good set. Got about 60K miles on my current set, and still good as far as I can tell. If they go 100K, I will be happy.
