Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

I've had pretty good luck buying from Dmaxstore. https://dmaxstore.com/products/bd-diesel-steering-upgrade-kit-2001-2010-lb7-lmm same price. They offer a lifetime warranty on the front hubs also.

I wonder if the #3 SWC BKLT is just for the lighting of the steering wheel controls.

IIRC stabilitrack is tied to the ABS module as it uses individual brake pulses to the wheels for corrections in stability. My guess is you need to re program / re sync all of the modules to each other.

I think the stabilitrack message may be keeping the cruise from working. On all 3 of my trucks with traction control and stabilitrack, turning off either the traction control or stabilitrack will kill the cruise.

    Motor missing and vibrating

try unplugging and replugging in each injector. Most generations of duramax are prone to plug issues. If that fixes the issues (note unplug one, reset, start and look for code) you can lengthen the injector harness when you splice in a new connector. Connector could be...

    Seriously?

That intake horn looks collapsed. Could be one of the several issues it sounds like the truck has. I don't think he got that far yet though.

    Seriously?

Is the plastic intake deformed and restricting airflow as well? I mean I may or may not have done some junky stuff when I was 12 or so, but that looks like the entire 7th grade class got involved to come up with some of that.

Spindle nut socket for 2005 2500HD

Mine on the 04 has never been strong, but since I'm a flatlander and do not need it... You might try Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex3rlTG-lFc as they are known to have adjustment issues from the factory. I know mine did since I've owned it with less than 100 miles on it.

Spindle nut socket for 2005 2500HD

If you look at the video, you will notice the parking brake can be seen when you remove the rotor hat. you only need to remove the spindle if you actually need to remove the shoes to replace them. As mentioned, the factory uses a 2 piece seal and the inner is known to stay on the spindle...

Adam, try a gun shop or local AC shop for the Kroil. I have seen it in both of those places before. Long road so far and still to go, but she does look good.

    WWYD? Turbo time

Since it's not your daily any longer, have you considered cleaning the vanes? IIRC there was a vane upgrade that could be done to the stock unit as well. Don't know how much you want to put into the truck and what performance you are looking to achieve.

What did you do to your home/shop today?

Anything on the OSB is better than raw wood. OSB will suck up the moisture from the room which leads to it sucking up the lighting. A nice gloss finish will help reflect the light. Lighter paint helps even more.

    Starfire Fluid Built Trans

Back when I had the trans in my 04 rebuilt by Mike and his crew, I asked about running Amsoil Torque Drive. He said hold off for at least one change to allow the frictions and steels to bed themselves. Once the bedding happens, you can make the change.

Have you checked with socal diesel? https://shop.socaldiesel.com/duramax-01-04-lb7/camshafts/standard-firing-order-camshafts/duramax-camshaft-3388/ they offer both standard and alternative firing order and 2 specs in each. Spec's not listed on their site and they are really proud of those...

    Seriously?

What I hate is they pull the filter as a courtesy, but then want to charge you labor to replace it. If they would just charge the filter price since they already did the labor, I'd be more likely to go for it. What got me the other day, they charged me $20 for the labor to do an oil change (I...

    Weird find

Once you get a library of parts, it becomes a "bespoke" business with no standing inventory other than raw materials and printers. Only print what you have orders for. When you make enough money to pay off the first printer and all supplies used, invest in a second one if you feel demand is...

    Weird find

If you 3d print one as 2 pieces then put a pin through it as a "flap" so that it can close that might work. Or instead put holes in it, but you run into the issue of larger items getting stuck behind it.

What did you do to your home/shop today?

We had a natural gas line added a few years back and the plumbers use stainless flex line. Last year we had the AC replaced. Guess either the fitting on the gas line was over tightened or the line got jarred along the way cracking the nut that holds the end to the flex and we had a super slow...

    BBC teardown and diagnosis

Is the engine using coolant? If it's not loosing coolant, steam cleaning the cylinders is out. If it is using coolant, have the block water jacket vacuum checked to ensure there is not porosity in the casting, an internal crack, or a pin hole in the machining between the water jacket and the...
