LB7: Lots of black smoke in hot weather, almost none in cold?

I think this is cracked above the bottom rib. How much would that contribute to the smoke problem?

I have Line-X on the bottom of my truck so I don't have that problem. :D

LB7: Lots of black smoke in hot weather, almost none in cold?

Thanks for all the replies. The posts by PACouger just made me think of something, the climate control turns on the A/C at 50 degrees. Maybe that does have something to do with it. I haven't used EFI Live that much. What exactly should I log? I have had the tune for a couple years now. I did...

LB7: Lots of black smoke in hot weather, almost none in cold?

What would cause excessive smoke when the weather is hot? During the winter I have almost no smoke and much better throttle response. Once the outside temperature gets above about 50 it starts to smoke and turbo lag gets bad. As it gets hotter it seems to get worse. (it will pour out black...

Best spot to check fuel pressure

I have 2 fm100 pumps. They have always been 3-4 psi with one on and 6-7 with both on. (at idle)

Best spot to check fuel pressure

Is it safe to use the gauge as an indicator for when to change the filter? I have 2 Stanadyne fm100 filters in parallel before the stock filter. Can I wait till the fuel pressure drops to change it or is that a bad idea?

Best spot to check fuel pressure

Mine is an autometer electric sender too. I just used a short hose between it. I don't remember where I ordered mine but it took me a long time to find one that would allow keeping the original bleeder screw.

DSP5 lost 2 of the tunes?

Ok, I just got EFI Live. Still figuring out how to use it but I did find where it shows the voltages. It is switching the voltage for each setting. How do you see if the tune is actually switching?

DSP5 lost 2 of the tunes?

That would make some of the tunes not work?

DSP5 lost 2 of the tunes?

Is it possible for some of the tunes to disappear? I had a local guy here tune my truck a couple years ago. About 6 months after that something happened to it. There used to be a very noticeable difference between each position. (1 stock -5 smoke) It seemed to have first happened when I was...

    Alignment?

I just had an alignment done and now the truck pulls to the left. I took it back and they said it is right. Do these setting look right? They say it is the slop in the steering gearbox that is causing the problem.I have had the truck for 85K miles (183k on it now)and it has never pulled before.

    rear brakes

I just changed mine a couple weeks ago and just pulled the rotors off. I broke a couple T55 torx bits getting the caliper bolts out. Make sure you have at least one good one. (I even broke the first 1/2" drive Craftsman) It is probably the pads not sliding. One of mine was stuck really bad. Had...

    LBZ: LB7 Intake Heater Voltage?

I just noticed this in an LBZ forum. Can a moderator put it in the right place? I will check the glow plug voltage tomorrow. A couple years ago 7 of them were burned out and it started easier than it does now (even with the weak batteries I had then) but ran rough for a bit after it started...

    LBZ: LB7 Intake Heater Voltage?

But if the glowplugs are getting the same voltage and it is supposed to be 12v then they won't be doing anything either. What exact temp are you talking about when you say single digits? There is a big difference between 0° and 10°. At 10° it starts ok and at 0° it takes a lot of cranking. -8°...
