    You can unbolt the top bar and use the lower part. That's how we put an 06 core in my brother 03. Not sure if 01-02 are any more different but James would know.

    To reset the HVAC, pull the fuse for a minute and reinstall, turn the key but dont start it, wait around 2 minutes for it to do its thing. You should hear the blend doors moving and it'll be on auto mode.
