    Supercharger reliability????

Think it out as far as you can. This show just how surge should be avoided. Notice the gauges on the dash. Just left of the digital gauge, watch how the needle fluctuates. That is surge. Notice the needle on the gauge just right of the digital gauge. That indicates manifold charger surge...

single vs twins please help im not trying to start a flame war

Very good post, as stated elevation plays a big part of pressure ratio and how all chargers work. Too bad most maps indicate sea level gains.

Pat's single at Bonneville before the twins?

single vs twins please help im not trying to start a flame war

With compounding turbochargers, the smaller charger builds cfm to spool the larger charger. Once the larger charger is spooled the smaller charger compounds that air from the larger charger. Sooo if there is a disadvantage off the line for a single charger it would be for spool up as noted. I...

single vs twins please help im not trying to start a flame war

Depends on the temperature drop/difference between the inducer and exducer of the turbine of the turbocharger. If there is no temperature drop, there was no transition/conversion to mechanical power.

single vs twins please help im not trying to start a flame war

I'm offended, all this talk about a roots and 1600hp and you haven't started yet. :D Sad fact is, if we don't know we talk till we do know. Then, when we try it we gotta get everyone else to agree before we make our mind up. We've learned tons by failing. I'll fail some more but will have...

    Supercharger reliability????

Sorry for not answering sooner. Some known info for calculations. Temps are 85 degrees f. Bsfs .38/hp Supercharger used as the atmosphere charger. A/F ratio of 22 to 1 for desired no smoke operating conditions. 500rwhp desired. So some facts. These figures will depend on cooling the...

single vs twins please help im not trying to start a flame war

Just want to make sure this is in reference to compound/sequential turbocharging. If so, I don't buy it. Guess it's time to put facts/figures with statements. I'll work on my facts, you work on yours. First, the obvious. Increasing volume requires two things. Area and pressure. To...

single vs twins please help im not trying to start a flame war

My interpretation is over fueling quenches combustion and one, no heat and two no volume accordingly. But I don't know, I saw a pulling truck that spooled for like a minute and a half and blamed it on something else like a huge charger or two.

Wow, those are nice cars. Steve Morris builds some nice ones and uses the gear driven f-3 superchargers. 54? and 572 packages as well. Wonder if they are the same?

Is Jim still at Procharger? He was great when I spoke with him a while ago. Have you got any experience with that f3-139? I hear it is the best thing since sliced cheese. Well for a big block doing 8000rpm lol

    Supercharger reliability????

Hey Lonnie, not to influence this post but we found and started using a belt by Goodyear called the "Blackhawk". It's a kevlar belt and will take a beating. I've only lost one so far and it was because I let it get caught in some hoses. Just an FYI but you probably already knew.

    Supercharger reliability????

Spinning that charger high enough to build boost at lower rpm's may prove to be a problem. If you speed it up too much, when it starts to compress, you're probably going to find it will surge. You can remedy that by venting, which will allow the required cfm through the compressor, as to allow...

    Supercharger reliability????

IMHO you need them both. :thumb: for the 10 Rib, cog belts are very aggressive and hard on components.
