    How bad of a fire was it? Just a harness fire? If the valve covers aren't slumped I wouldn't be too worried about it. I bought a similar engine that had a pretty bad fire and the heads were fine.

    Be careful pulling it. A friend just pulled the molding on his 01 and some of his paint decided to leave with it. I've always "sawed" the molding off using fishing line then used an eraser wheel to get the remaining.

    Seems like everyone I ask on things like this tells me it will depend on the tech and the event you're running. I've been trying to stay on the safer side of things and overbuilding. It would suck to have them not let you run over something trivial.

    Thanks Russ. I should have been more specific, I need plates for LB7/LLY. I talked to David and they only have plates for LBZ/LMM. I'd have to swap runners and I don't think it's worth the $$ in my case to swap over. Might just have to find someone with a water jet or plasma table to cut...

    Not necessarily. They work in both applications but I would say they're just as helpful in a DD/tow rig where underhood temps can get high enough to cause burning issues with the factory underhood insulation. Good piece of mind knowing the heat is where it's supposed to be.

    I take no issue with someone recommending a material type based on experience/knowledge. I just wonder who actually has that experience and isn't just recommending it because it's a more expensive/exotic material. Not saying that's the case in this thread or that stainless/inconel/ti aren't...
