lb7 turbo intake horn is it worth the money and time on a stock lb7

EFI Live is legal in California, and with a federal emissions truck you won't have to worry about anything. Just be careful, it's a slippery slope and a built transmission will windup on that list sooner or later. But it's worth it

    Twin engine duramax truck...

I'm certainly in the "hate on him" crowd. Mainly I'm just personally butt hurt, they don't make the GMT800 trucks any more and it just annoys me to see them destroyed in such childish fashion. But, props to him for making a brand out of it and making money on it... I guess?

    In need of new tires

Well, interesting. Good to know, I'll definitely take that into consideration before purchasing. I'll spend way more time on wet roads than I will than any other surface (other than dry asphalt of course).

    In need of new tires

Interesting to hear that. What’s the knockoff?I’m mostly going off these two sources, and my success with other Toyo tires. But it’s still a couple months before I pull the trigger Fred Williams article on them -...

    In need of new tires

I’ve never owned a truck long enough to actually go through a set of tires, but I will say the several sets of Toyo ATs I’ve had are great, so when I upsize on my current truck I’ll go with the Toyo RT. Honestly I don’t think you can go wrong with either the Toyo or the Nitto. I think the Nitto...

    Truck stolen.

I must not be picturing the right thing, I can’t imagine how this would open the door AND then get it started not trying to turn this into a DIY hijacking thread lol, just trying to understand how to prevent it or at least make it more difficult

    Truck stolen.

I missed that you had posted this update. Bummer to hear it worked out like that. Are you able to tell how they got it started?

    Truck stolen.

I saw someone suggest a door handle off the rear of a crew cab for the driver door so there's no keyhole any more But then you're kinda shooting yourself in the foot if your fob battery dies or gets fried What/how are you wiring up the kill switch to?

    Truck stolen.

Shoot, well hopefully you can get it covered well enough through insurance to get what you want That’s the second time in a week a stolen 06 has come up for me... I had already considered a kill switch after the first time... You’re saying they were able to jimmy it and hot wire it in less than...

What about the LML hydroboost mentioned in that thread?

    What’s in your tool box?

Wow, that's a wide variety of answers. I'm definitely not doomsday prepper status, but I feel more comfortable being prepared. Especially as I start to take this truck to more and more remote places or off the beaten path. @rmallen30 how do you like that fuel/tool combo box? Are you using...

Recommendations for injector install in SoCal?

I had 805 Diesel in Camarillo do down pipe and up pipe on my LB7, so I didn’t have to worry about breaking or stripping bolts lol The owner Brandon seems like a good guy, but I think he’s grown the business way too fast to keep up. I was pretty upset with turnaround time and communication. I...

    Oil filters

Is this a price thing or is there really that much to gain in an oil filter? The $10 AC Delco has never made me think about going elsewhere.

Also, just a small update on the lines themselves, I'm told Lincoln Diesel is going to pull a couple sets of their aftermarket lines off the shelf and bench test them for quality and will let me know if they run into issues.

Ha! Yeah, everything has it's pro's and con's. I have always felt the GMT800 platform is the best blend between comfortable and "updated" interior, with minimal (relatively) electronic dependence making ease of service that much more accessible. While a 7.3 might be dead reliable, the...

    What’s in your tool box?

This thread is inspired by my recent mishap in New Mexico when I lost a high pressure line and got stranded for 24hrs. Luckily I had packed the right tools with me to get the job done this time, but I’ve had to purchase a few cheap-o tool kits on past trips because I didn’t bring tools with me...

    Tuning an LBZ/ZF6

I only had my LB7/ZF6 a short period of time, but @DAVe3283 was able to get his normal tune up and running on the truck and it ripped. Felt like a different animal compared to the same tune in my Allison LB7. The only issue I recall was a TCM communication error code, which I didn’t own the...

Oh one salt in wound humorous part I didn’t mention, the tow truck that requested us was an 01 7.3 with 950,000 miles on it. I had to listen to how great Fords and 7.3s were the whole 20 min tow haha

Thanks James, and yes I’m very grateful for the help I’ve found from this forum! we just made it back to Northern California. The dorman unit held fine the rest of the trip. I’m just glad it was one of the easiest to reach lines and only took uncoupling the top intercooler boot to have a clear...
