Well there is a lot of machining you can do and depending on the shape you motor is in and what all you want to do to it. At the minimum i would get the heads decked and pressure checked, and polish the crank, and get the rotating assembly balanced. If you lost a piston you will want to at...
You can if you dont leave it on too long. I just grounded the solonoid, and figured out a way to take care of the failsafe with EFI. It works fine on my truck, but a PWN setup like Ben has will be the best. :)
Had carrillo rods , socal cut and coated pistons, main studs, head studs, and Internally balanced crank, with a ati balancer that i just took the weight off of and then machined the weight out of the ats flywheel for the crank.
My truck is a dd so me no go, but i want to go watch :) I do agree tho, this race will be for dedicated drag trucks built to take serious fuel. takes money and i dont have that.
I put a hole in a piston. :( dont no what did it. Its either an injector or piston failure. I hadnt really even given them a working over yet. Just had a tranny and lift pump with stock injectors, turbo, and CP3. Just got the motor built in september :(
Ill probably take it out saturday...
We have spun many stock turck to 4500 or better and i spin my built motor to 5. With that being said i believe that was a contributing factor to my crank breaking spinning that high. In the end its up to you if you want to take the risk. And yes without the right injectors and turbos they...
Ok i was wondering if anyone else was doing this with a stock crank. We did mine that way and obviously i havnt had it apart to look at it, but very happy with it. Very, very smooth.
