What sxe? On lbz?

What has everyone been running for a sxe on the lbz? Stock everything for now. I typically tow my car hauler with anything from a dodge neon to a Cummins mega cab. And I plan to get a 25-40' 5ther. Upgrades will happen as needed. But 369? 366? 364? I'm typically at the 4000-6000' elevation also what size housing? I have a chance to pick up a bd pedestal with a t3-t4 adapter for cheap and that is why I'm looking for opinions.

Well if the truck is 100% stock now your pissing in the wind putting a fixed vane on it.. Do some good tuning and you'll like the variable better. Esp towing

I had efi live on my lly for a while and it was good but idk I just like how a fixed vane runs

If you want to switch go with a 364 or 366 in the sxe turbo. On a stock lbz at sea level the 366 runs really well. Tows really well too. It would need a tranny to take advantage of the extra capabilities.

At your elevation and you tow I'd do twins hands down. I'd also build your tranny before doing anything to your turbo.
If you HAVE to have an sxe I'd do a 364/68 to keep good spool up and get more power.

Also, run away from that BD pedestal, in their stock form their a piece of shit.

If you have a stock transmission you haven't even started to tap into the potential of the stock turbo. Build your trans and get good tuning, then see whether or not the VGT is the problem.

The vgt s not a problem I'm just not a fan. I planned on porting the bd pedestal if I got it. Or atleast opening it up the best I could. I don't need an sxe. I'd really like to spend the extra $ and get the fleece 463

you start going over a 364 fixed vane and you wont like pulling any 25-40ft up in flagstaff, Allen. and if you dont have a built trans to handle extra fuel to get the bigger charger to light like it can, it will compound your issue

Yeah I will need to go see mike before the turbo gets changed. I'm just looking at gathering parts.

10-4. personally, stay 300 housing and at most, a 366sxe. if you dont go sxe, id stay in the 364 or smaller range. Nate ran that box stock 366 and he didnt like towing much with it. hes going a twin style kit like mine now.

362/364 sxe have enough air for 600+ HP and work well with stock/mild tow tune.

I'm not running any more fuel with the 4088 than I was with stock VVT..

VVT made 413 with 16" steel wheels
4088 made 396 with 19.5 steel wheels
225/70/19.5 are about 50# heavier than 235/85/16 setup.

Only things I miss about deleting VVT is turbo brake and quicker warm ups due to closing the vanes when cold.

I had no issues with my 4088(63.5mm) at upwards of 7000' last weekend on a trip to Idaho..

I guess it all depends on your standards, too. I didn't have issues with my S371 (71mm) camping over 7000' here in Idaho a couple weeks back.

No issues, but it was laggy as balls :spit:

I'm sure it was slower than at the ~1100' I live at... But not slow enough to catch my attention, that I had to change my driving habits towing 14,000lbs

I was above 3,500' from Wall south Dakota to sandpoint ID and back easy 2000miles

I would build your trans first and then add some power. Stock turbo built trans lbz was the funnest duramax I've had.

I would agree. That's why I've left my LML basically alone, tune plus a few other odds and ends. :D It's still super fun to drive, pulls incredibly and it's more reliable than a stock one...:angel:
