What mains to use

Building my motor trying to decide if I should just run stock mains, billet mains or a girdle looking to have the truck around 1000hp but won't be at that level all the time probably DD around 700 for the most part just wondering what everybody else thought are on this see what other people are running

I guess what trying to say can you girdle the stock mains or just put billet w/o a girdle how do you really gain how much could a stock main hold with studs

No need for a girdle at that power level IMO. Only reason all those Cummins guys do it, is because there isn't anything holding the caps from the side like the dmax block.

Larry from Danville had advised not to run those billet mains unless the correct machine work was done with them.

If you have the $$$ for a 1,000hp motor, the girdle is a small price to pay compared to just the gaskets, seals, fluids, and machine work if something goes wrong, nevermind any actual damage that might happen.

I was at 730+ for a year with stock mains stock bolts. Another year at 850 with stock main caps and stock bolts. (Original stock bolts) now putting in studs with stock caps
