Recommended rear main seal install?

How do you guys install a rear main seal? I have the seal installer tool but do you guys put a little oil on the crank or the rear cover or put it in dry?(that sounds wrong) thanks for any input

I oiled it. I also didn't use the correct tool for it, just a mallet.

They end up leaking best to use a little rtv seal around mating surface of adapter housing and also some on the inner ring of seal. At one time Gm said to use Blue loctite on the rear main seal on the inner ring to crank surface from the tsb report they had out on the repair.
