We are leaving the factory suspension in our 02. What I want to know is what spring setup is the best? 2 or 3 leafs? We only have the overload taken out...

Im running 3 right now without bags. You could run 2 but I would use bags and add some traction bars, im sure the wrap will be crazy.

invest in some QAI double adjustable shocks, both front and back, absolute best thing you can do for your truck, add cal tracks and still clamp the front of your rear springs for good measure, at least till you see how it handles.:thumb:

With your truck being 2wd I'd think you would want as soft a spring rate you can get. You'll probably need to put your caltracs on it to fight axle wrap. Like Ken said, get some QA1s, but you'll be setting them different from the 4wd guys. You want the front to come up so the weight will transfer to the back tires. You could probably get by with just the front shocks, but you will probably want double adjustables.

I'd say go with 2. If it doesn't work well, put the 3rd one back in and see what that does for you.

I pulled all but the two longest springs, added Cal-Tracs, and 3-way adjustable drag shocks.
Adjustable compression, adjustable rebound, what's the third? I've never heard of 3 way adjustable shocks.

Since we're on the subject, anyone ever tried anything like this? They've gotta be a lot lighter than the stock springs, and you could get any spring rate you want.

The rear shocks are single adjustable (both comp/rebound). I am trying the old school Competition Engineering that are called 3-way adjustable (50/50/ 60/40, and 70/30). It is actually just 3 valving settings.
