So g'day to everyone
I'm from Western Australia and currently have an lbz duramax 6 speed auto sitting in port waiting for customs clearance, I will be putting it into my 1998 gq patrol ute,
The ute just got a full ground up rebuild.. Will post some photo of it soon

Just curious...what is so special about these patrols? Seems just about everyone and they're uncle swaps duramax's into them.

They are an weapon off road, medium length wheel base, coil springs on all four corners, drive line is unbreakable, can handle a duramax, go forever, reliable, and reasonable well priced,
For example mine had a 4.2 n/a Deisel which I put a turbo on the ute has 500,000 Kms on the clock and the only things that's gone is one clutch and one starter motor,
Although the engine is a bit of a sleep old engine they used the same engine from 1985-9 right to 1999 you can work them to put out 200kw and 800-900nm torque I think off of memory but not perfectly reliable and to get some to build a engine like that your looking around the $12000-$15000... Buy the time u add a new injector pump, turbo etc...
I picked up my durmax for $6500 plus $1000 on shipping plus what it's gona cost me to put in I'll have more power then a worked 4.2...

So you just swap out the engine and throw a Duramax in? Leave the original tranny in it or swap in an allison?

Thanks! Was a fun project
Yes swap the trany to the 6 speed auto, using an adapter plate from the 6 speed to the Nissan transfer case

What are your plans for the motor? It'd be nice and easy to delete the egr with the motor still on that crate!

Yep, will probably just throw in a blocker plate,
I'm not going to do anything to fancy to it just yet... Got to get my head around the basics of it first ;) got a lot to learn!
Will pull a fair amount off of the top of the motor to make it fit and look like this...

Photo not mine but same type of car that it is going into

bosvelk remove the whole lot (EGR) and weld up/block the EGR return into the up pipe it removes so much un needed crap off the engine while doing these conversions dont just fit a blocker plate
