EGR blocker plates are fabbed up. May need to add a support for the one that blocks the exhaust.

Do your self a favor and cut the up pipe riser off the up pipe and weld the up pipe back up.. Believe me you don't want to just bolt a plate up there and hope it holds because it will fail.

Right now would be so easy to cut and weld it

Thanks for the advise, I never thought of that.

I did plan to add a support bracket to the plate. Tie it into the mounting bolt location for the EGR cooler. But if just removing the whole pipe is a better idea, then so be it.

Yes removing it is a 200000000x better way to go

So my 03 LB7 is a federal emissions truck, what are the odds that the up pipe from that will work with the LBZ motor.

Can I just toss the LBZ "Y" pipe, and use the LB7 one?

So this just happened.

I had planned to replace all (8) glow plugs, (6) came loose like butter, (1) obviously broke and (1) other sure feels like it's going to break.

Any tips on getting the broken one out, without pulling the head?

Free at last, free at last, broken glow plug is OUT!

Straight fluke extractor failed, caused more problems.

Reverse twist 11/32 drill worked great, but once the drill got past the threads, the lower portion just spun free. Too free to drill for the 1/4 20 tap. Luckily a 5mm tap got enough of a bite, to pull it out.

Greased up the 10mm x .125 tap, chased the threads, vacuumed the hole, installed new plug.

#2 glow plug looked as if it was never sealed correctly? Cylinder head had carbon around the glow plug hole. Kinda of odd.

Well, not making much progress.

Tried pulling motor and trans together. Oil pan will not clear the front diff.

I've jacked the cab off the frame as much as I'm comfortable with.

The whole assembly is stuck in a bad spot.

I do not like the look of the output shaft / bearing from the 03 five speed.

Should I replace them?

The five speed is buttoned back up, in 2wd trim. The six speed is going to get a new out put shaft and bearing. It does not look like the truck will be going back together this weekend. I doubt my local Allison dealer has the parts in stock.

Crying ass shame you can't buy decent parts. Directly from my local GM dealer and this is the second one, the splines were beat to crap on the first one. I can't wait any longer.

Six speed set up for 4wd, checked the end play on the input shaft, it came out .025". I saw somewhere where Mike said .015 to .050" is acceptable?
