My shifter is a homemade motorcycle grip with a clutch lever connected to gas pedal so when she forces the shifter into 3rd it smacks the dash. Stock shifter didn't even come close.

If I understand this right, that motorcycle clutch lever is attached to the throttle pedal...

I fly helicopters and that looks confusing to me.....Can you still use the pedal if you want? Looks like it would take some getting used to.
