Would bad head gaskets and etc affect injestor balance rates?

I didn’t even think about that.

I don’t know. I know there are issues that have been ongoing for years. They don’t seem to have time or care to fix them. I’ve had issues with logs corresponding in the tunes for years. One of the guys on their forum even told them where the issue was. They never did anything about that I know of.

I know what you're saying, it is incredibly frustrating that they don't offer much in the way of product development once a platform is rolled out. They keep saying that they are swamped with new gas controllers to work on instead, but maybe they are more concerned with vehicles outside North America these days? HP Tuners is better in some ways and worse in others. Maybe when these motors are 20 years old the support will come back?

I remember the threads discussing the discrepancy on cylinder numbers. I had that issue with my LB7. I think it is firing order that is displayed.

If I remember right they only thought it was the LLY that had this issue and they said it was programmed the same as the Tec2 so what ever it showed efi live should be the same.

Apparently they fixed it but some others complained so they put it back. And without enough information they stopped looking into it. They would likely fix it if enough people asked but it seems not very many have so it is shelved for now

We all wish they would go back and work on older stuff in EFI Live. Especially the Allison side of things. I am not sure where they are headed in the market, But it seems so many are ditching them in favor of HPT lately.

Personally I can't stand the fact that HPT has ripped off so much from EFI and others. They also don't seem to want help the end user with issues caused by there software. The Upside is that they have pissed off so many end users and people that helped them get where they are in the market that I don't mind when I see it come full circle on them. ;)

I don’t see people ditching EFILive for HP Tuners at all. The cost for tuning with HP is much higher and there aren’t many benefits.

Perhaps it depends on the area. In my area, I have seen it. I scored a used V2 that had a dodge option unlocked and I forget how many licenses were used on it but it had like 26 open transmission and no streams. I had it all transferred to my V2 and resold the unit.

The cheaper upfront cost is what people look at but they never look past that. Also the fact you cant lock a tune and people can copy and paste tunes. I haven't checked in a long time but the LS1B stream from EFI was cheaper than getting the same same thing from HPT by almost 1/2 because they distinguish between cars and trucks. Also dont like they lay out of the folders or there scanner portion of the software.

I bricked 2 PCMs with there software and the response was too bad they were free credits and we dont know why it happened. I have never bricked one with EFI Live as there flash is much more stable. Also they say there COS is now free. Well not when you Brick a PCM and have to license a file that was not originally on the new PCM. They make you license the PCM and then re license tune file.

I've been wondering what's next for the EFI bunch also, it's been pretty quiet over on there forum. I keep checking in hoping to find some news on something but not much, maybe they are working hard to finally finish the V8 software . I have a 2020 and have been thinking about the HPT stuff to but just can't quite get past the $1800-2500 for the ECM with likely around $3200 to do my own tuning .

There will be EFILive for new gen duramax trucks this year. The virus has slowed down release but it’s coming.

Hope it happens, do you think the flash chip is going to need to be replaced just like the HP stuff?

Guess we really derailed this thread, balance rates and tuning :D

I can't find anyone to tune my gassers locally with EFI. Now I haven't looked real hard, but none of the well known shops use it. EFI for diesels seems to be pretty common though.

Some of the spray patterns look like there may be a nozzle issue on some of those.

Thanks

Other then the bad rates I had a good return test probably 5k miles ago. I did have a stronger diesel smell at idle then I remembered this thing having. Hard to say since I probably only put 2k on it in the last 1.5 year knowing the HG was hurt.

I found this piece of metal in the top of my head. While I was stripping it for the machine shop. Its sheared off of something. I couldn’t see anything obvious and the machine shop didn’t mention anything being broken yet. Ideas?

Did you ever find out where this feller goes? It looks like your alignment dowel on the front of the crank gear. But have no idea how it would get on top of the head.

Nope now you got me nervous, but I think it has to be there from the factory. I’ll put an mic on it to get the size and see what y’all think.

If it matters truck was running great. I did one last big burnout with my daughter hrs before I started working on it.

Here is another shot of this pin. You can see is sheared off diagonally.

Is the second pic I tried to get one of the three indentations on the sheared end of the pin. They are running parallel with it and are maybe 1/32” deep. It measures .204” in diameter and 0.367 long. Any more ideas?

That is real close to a crank or cam pin 6mm the conversion is 25.5 times your .208 its about 5.2 mm if its worn just a little bit that could be it , but how it got there someone other than me may be able to figure that out . Good luck with the build !

25.4mm = 1 inch is the accepted industry standard.

Bdsankey ok I just looked it up on the net and it says 25.5 but if you say 25.4 rounded off thats ok to , my point was to try to find out what the piece might be not to be corrected for .1 mm , can you tell us what this part is , that might help him out !
