Why aren't L5P heads on older gen trucks?

We all know how it went last time Brodix made duramax heads................... Ask all the Wagler customers who Jeremy and Brodix screwed over.............
Oh I know it was a chit show, but I'm sure there's details nobody knows. Only reason I mention Brodix is probably one of 2 places that usually work with the customer and can do custom changes to existing castings. Personally I think AFR should try their hand but it's more than likely too low volume

Mast was making them for Kill Devil. I've used some of their LB7 heads and have been very happy with them. I don't know if they're still making them.

What’s the consensus on Edelbrock heads? I know Nick had a video about them when they came out. Seemed to pick up a little power at lower RPM. It doesn’t seem like they have sold a lot of them.

I don't remember what the max flow numbers were, but the video I saw where Nick ran a set on the dyno he wasn't anywhere near the power needed to test the heads IMO

For the money, Fleece heads are not able to be touched.

Edelbrock and Mast are nice pieces, but I would not spend the extra coin on them. Also, they're not available for all models either.

The Changes that Edelbrock incorporated did seem to pick up but according to Nick, the spring package was holding it back when he pushed it.

FED, Frankenstein Engine Dynamics ported some but I never heard what the results where after porting. They do offer the service though.https://frankensteined.net/product/duramax-stage-1-assembled-set/

Here is Nick's video

I didn't know Mast had a Duramax head.

I found this post from Kill Devil Diesel but all the links are broken. I can't find any other info from MAST or KDD

I do not simply because I think they're a waste of money product. They do nothing better for these trucks than the AL heads other than lightening your wallet and pulling your back in my personal opinion.

I also do not overly like PPE as a company. Their form of "R&D" is typically "Rob and Duplicate". They did it with Mike L's trans cooler, Levi's exhaust manifold blankets, Rick's manifolds/up-pipes and other products. PPE used to buy pallets of Mike's cooler directly from Mike before kicking them off to a much cheaper and less thermally efficient supplier overseas. They used to buy small runs of blankets from Levi before doing the same. They used to have Rick (ProFab) cast their manifolds etc before they kicked them to a Chinese foundry/supplier.

These trucks don't really have HG issues compared to many other vehicles. 01 to early 06 and 11-16 have issues due to poor gasket design. 01-early 06 are a crimped gasket where over time the layers can seperate/move compared to a riveted gasket. 11-16 are just a garbage quality gasket overall.

Once a HG job is completed with properly surfaced heads, quality Mahle gasket, and proper head fastening (doesn't matter if you use OEM TTY or a stud) they tend to not have issues in my personal experience.
