With good tuning they can make some good power. But mine was an L33 (aluminum block). They can still make good power IMHO, and 150ish pounds lighter is nice too.

This will be my next build. It started out life as a L76. I'm planning to bore it .030 over & destroke it with 4.8 liter crank & rods. Then it will probably get a Holley Hi Ram intake and a decent size turbo. I'll be looking for 9000 rpm.

My play toy is a gasser sbc 383, 12.5:1, .640 solid roller, 850 demon, MSD ignition, Scat lower end. Used to motivate my jeep with 1tons 4:56's and 40"cut boggers

rebuilt the engine new block .060 over 10cc domes 9:1 049 heads undercut valves 2.065 intake and 1.88 exhaust 208/218* .475/.500 lift 114ls ft cam, msd 6a box, wires diz and coil tube headers and 2.5" exhaust 600cfm edelbrock carb, edelbrock performer intake

dyno sheet of new engine which only thing change from blown up engine is CR and exhaust valves

Stock factory 4.6, 32V forged motor. I estimate hp to be 425rwh. Getting ready to drop a big TVS 2.3 blower with injectors. Should net me 620rwh.
