Obviously we all love Diesel engines, but who also likes to tinker with gas engines? $$$ per hp is extremely low when you compare gas parts to diesel parts. I know there's a bunch of y'all out there that have some rowdy gasser trash. Whatcha got? And I'm having to run a full manual valve body on the th400, any suggestions for a shifter?? There is a million of them lol

Here's what my father, some good friends and I have been working on
454, .070 over, 4.25" stroke, 10.5:1
Roller cam is .630 and some change on the lift

Had a bunch of good pictures of the heads in my old phone, that is now destroyed.
They are cast heads that our friend, 'Super Mario' of Super Mario Race Engines, ported to the max. It was art, I didn't want to pit them on the motor lol
1.88/2.19 valves, mechanical rollers, rockers, rocker stud girdle, HEAVY springs lol

Carb was a dominator 1250 that our friend David Phillips (helping a chit ton with everything) of Allan Phillips Racing worked some sort of magic on. He said "this is gonna make the truck real fun" as soon as he got his hands on it lol

Post some pics of what y'all got going on

I will buy another ls motor and put a big single in the front whenever I can afford it lol.

It was a stock bottom end that was fully balanced with arp main studs. Custom grind comp cam. C5r timing chain and gears. Ported ls3 heads. Stock ls3 intake ported with stock 42lb truck injectors. Besides the cam everything was all stock gm parts. I blew the trans before I made it to the dyno. Should of made around 625hp to the crank. I'm bummed I got rid of it 4 years ago. I'll just have to build a bigger and better one next time.

Royal Oak, Mi.
The Cheetah SCS shifters are the typical go-to shifter for serious business. No frills, looks terrible, but they work fantastic.

So basically a stock motor. That can make over 600hp easily. That's why I want an LS haha. This ol BBC will be plenty. If and when I get an itch I may look into getting a very large turbo and changing something to run some boost to it.

I have no clue what the motor should make, this is my first gasser to really get into. The guys helping me know what it should make, but they won't be serious with me haha

I still can't decide if I want the slap type shifter or the type you pull into each gear...

Cammed & blown 5.3 in my half ton. 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, mid 11's at the drag strip.

Those 5.3s can take some abuse. I'll take the extra strength of the iron block and make up for the weight with more power. I believe the 5.3 has been pushed to over 800hp on a stock bottom end with a big single before a rod came out the side

With good tuning they can make some good power. But mine was an L33 (aluminum block). They can still make good power IMHO, and 150ish pounds lighter is nice too.

This will be my next build. It started out life as a L76. I'm planning to bore it .030 over & destroke it with 4.8 liter crank & rods. Then it will probably get a Holley Hi Ram intake and a decent size turbo. I'll be looking for 9000 rpm.

I bought -69 Continental from California and go to check it next week.
But I have already order Ford Racing block, 572 stroker kit, Kaase heads and other engine internals, and 8-71 blower on top of it. Parts will be here in a month or so.
Should be easy 1000 hp with E85.
