I'm pretty sure alternate fire cams have been out for more than a year.

Available to the public for sale? I know they've been "around" for a while, long before my time here, but I thought they just became "available" a year or so ago...?

Sorry for posting untruths, if I did...

The feedback that I have from running one;

They spool, run, and idle just like the standard firing order cam with the same profile.

You have to change the injector wiring harnesses, I did my own on both trucks but SoCal has plug and play harnesses for sale.

I have not broken a crank using one of them but have broken my share running standard firing order cams.

I feel this is the best step in battling the crank issues as I feel it is a harmonics issue as I have broken the snout off a crank and all the throws were fine for an example.

That is all I have to offer at this time. Hopefully i'll be repeating this statement at this time next year.:)

Out and about
statement

non of what I said in that post was to be pointed at you in any way, it was a general statement. I receive the do a search comment in my own trends. I do not like asking questions in someone else stuff, unless its abt the current topic of discussion. I do appreciate all the help and advice, I do support the shops that help me, I'd hate to see the total that I have spent on the truck.

This was a serious comment, and I started a thread about AF cams afterward:D

Not everything is intended to be sarcasm, when it's not an answer...but I understand being defensive when all you're trying to do is gain info, and the only answers you seem to get are "do a search" I've been there and asked all the wrong questions at all the wrong times, jacking threads, sometimes posting and basically talking to myself. Unfortunately for me, and the members of the DD community, I don't stop, shut up or give up, and learning how to communicate and navigate the forum has been a bumpy road to say the least...just look at my post count...:roflmao:
I've been told to GTFO, STFU, go back to DF, everything, if there's anyone that's going to be real with you, it's me...

On that note, I know nothing, I'm as green as the next guy and you're right, take what you read with a grain of salt, be diligent and do your research, pick up the phone and talk to shops who are willing to talk back, just remember who was good to you when your making purchases:thumb:

Alternate firing cams have only been available to "us" for a year, so there's not a whole lot of threads about them, or information on them, other than they've not been found in an engine with a broken crank, fwiw...

Sir, if you reread what you posted, it's pretty easy to see why I responded the way I did, thank you for clearing up your disposition about it. I just want to be clear I'm trying to help in whatever feeble way I can, most of us here are, good luck and happy hunting:hug:

Around $1200

Did that include changing the harness around or the jumpers to work with the revised firing order?

I'm currently looking as are a few others for an AF cam that needs no reliefs that someone has in stock. Not having any luck. I'm sure alot of these could be sold. Not everyone rebuilds their engine to be a 750hp racer!!

Kind of wish I had bought pistons with reliefs.

EDP told me to send them my harness and they will change it for free. Said it was included in the price.

Now I'm rather confused on the cam needing or not needing reliefs. I ordered the stg 1 that says it doesn't need reliefs. I haven't received it yet due to them telling me it won't ship out until I send them my harness.

I may be making a phone call here shortly to verify that cam doesn't need reliefs or else I have no use for it due to my pistons not having reliefs.

I talked to Lorenzo @ SoCal this morning about various things and he said the 3388af cam needs no reliefs and they are in process of grinding more, but there are none in stock as of yet. Maybe a few weeks till they're on SoCals shelf.

Just FYI

I'd call them for sure because I got the email last week saying they hadn't updated their website and that the stg 1 needed a min of 40 thou relief.

Did he happen to mention a price or how much the jumpers were?

The jumper is or atleast was about $100

That ain't bad. Better than waiting for a harness and/or losing it in shipping.
If EDP won't ship if they don't get a harness first I'll buy somewhere else. Never really liked that idea in the first place. Cross border shipping sucks at the best of times.

I emailed them earlier to verify.

They are no longer making an AF cam that doesn't require reliefs.

I was lucky enough to get one of the final ones they had before they stopped making them.
