Great back forks on that muley cape! I have my state bow tag for whitetail/mule deer, rifle tag for any sex deer, and next monday I'll be standing in line at the tribal office at about 4am to try and scoop a non member deer tag as well!

didnt get drawn for crap this year. Nothing on Elk and missed the dead line for deer. was gunna do over the counter archery deer but the weekends wouldnt work with what i already had planned.

I dont care for cold hunting lol. 2 years ago we did that up in flagstaff. Hunt was the weekend before halloween and Flag got early snow. had 2-3" of fresh stuff on the ground as i was pulling the rig through town and headed out to the spot. got down in the low teens each night. burned through 2 7.5 gal propane tankes in the trailer in 4 nights :roflmao:. stayed a nice 68* in there though :D

I have an old 67' Shasta that I use for hunting and my brother and I are still cranking away at getting her below zero ready.

There were 8 of us all together but only 5 had deer tags. We were south of buffalo on the powder river.

Isn't that funny? 3 more guys found a reason to get away from their wife. "Pack out meat? Oh yea! I don't give a sh*t if it's an elephant"

What did you use to drop yours?

They did have antelope tags but still give the ol lady any excuse to go!

I just put together a gun for my trips out west. I wanted as light as possible so I went with the savage light weight hunter in .308 paired with one of leupolds new cds dial scopes. This combo seems deadly and the cds dial is awesome for what distances I am shooting

I use a tika 300wsm with a Leopold vx3 boone and crocket. I yanked the composite stock and went with a boyds and a big limbsaver recoil pad. Added 1.5# of shot to the butt and forhandle to give it some more ass, it's a dream to shoot with the nosler trophy grade 180gr accubonds. Going tonight to check the zero at 200 and stretch to 500

I hand loaded for this gun using the hornady eldx 178 gr and it worked very well on the mule deer and antelope.

I will be doing handloads over the winter but for now this nosler stuff is supposed to be really good out of the box. Need to go out tonight and see if I can get another group or 2 like I had and call it quits. Maybe tag the going at the 350 but we will see what time allows

What unit did you draw your elk tags in?

Area 7. Not sure I'm gonna go now...gun got worse this evening. Had a shell not want to come back out it expanded so bad. Everything I had to pull it out of the action. Came home and found 4 of the 6 screws on my mounts are stripped so can't check and see if they are tight. Guy who put the break on did it because they were fine before it went. Then found the 2 bolts that hold the action into the stock were loose. Litealy no effort and they spun out. I don't think they were torqued and then add in this 300wsm pounds like they do and I think I had alot.of compounding issues. So I'm starting over but I don't have time to go sight it now so I think I'm waving the white flag
