I want to run a single turbo, but it needs to spool quick :D Horsepower goal is 1200 to the tires. I was looking at the GTX4508. I've never ran a ball bearing turbo but from what everyone says they spool good. I originally wanted the 4202 but 1000hp just doesn't seem like enough. Am I crazy to think the 4508 will get me close to 1200? and is it any larger than a S400? Id like to keep it in the valley and I already have an S400 kit. Are there any other turbos that can get me close to my goal?

There's zero chance a GTX4508 is going to support anywhere near 1200 wheel on a Duramax. From what I've seen, they also don't seem to like staying together on Duramax's:roflmao:

They have a 6" inducer & like a 12-13" compressor housing, same as a gt47. Don't see that fitting in the valley
IIRC Pat ran that compact gt45 that had 42 housings on it years back on Casper
that Dmax Colorado in Florida runs something crazy like a precision promod 91

I had a feeling it was larger. My BW is almost touching the cowl now.

S400 frame turbos the Stainless Diesel 5-blade has so far made the highest horsepower on my engine dyno at 1364hp so that is my turbo of choise in the S400 frame and they do offer it in the Ball bearing Billet cart which is the best of the best combo for those that can afford them. Of the GTX stuff we have engine dyno'd I've never really been impressed with them. If I was going to run a "Garrett" style turbo for big power I would go straight to a Precision Turbo and call it a day because that is what we have seen the best results from.:thumb:

Are you going to stay T4?

Probably a stupid question.^^
I'd assume you're going to stay T4, regardless if t4 or t6 you can get a just about any charger to fit in the valley. Just have to be creative with pedestal heights and y bridge design. Rick can make any height pedestal you'd want and obviously the options are endless with bridge's too. We've ran both t4 and t6 in the valley. Just have to shorten pedestal height for t6 and/or big frame turbos. If you're going to attempt it with a S400, you will need be looking at the big dollar ones like mentioned.
