What ever you do NOT compare DD to DP, that will really get you in trouble  Any board that thinks they are "different" just don't have enough members :D

Frankly, thats one reason why this site has gone downhill. There's a couple guys here that are actively recruiting people from DF to come here, and I for one wish they'd stop doing it. The DF people have brought all their BS from that forum here. It sucks. Check the attitudes at the damn door, people. This isnt DP or DF.

I wrote this in Jan, 09:
This forum is in many ways a much larger, more indepth version of the old DP "Power and Performance" section from 2005. Nothing but good old racing and go-faster parts discussion!

Wild ideas and ingenuity abound, excellent informative discussion about topics, and thoughtful debate without rudeness rule here.

Its been a long time since people have been able to brainstorm in the open without being hassled about their ideas.

Add to the fact that I dont feel like a total idiot here when I broach an idea, or offer an opinion.

Pat, Kat, all the Staff, and all the members, thank you very very much!
Unfortunately, that is simply no longer the case around here. Many of the guys who used to contribute a large amount of info here have moved on to other things or started their own businesses, while others simply got tired of having to defend themselves against certain other factions.
The rest of us are left with threads asking "what tuner is the best?" and questions about certain California member's sexual orientation. Ugh.
I keep hoping we can get this site back to what it was, but Im not sure how to get that going. I guess we can either help it happen, or help usher in its demise.

And damn it, I know I will catch ever-loving hell about it, but I have to say this: MikeL, you need to lay off.
You've become that crotchety old guy that nobody wants to deal with, but we tolerate because you USED to be a good guy. All you spew nowadays is hate and negativity. You may be a great guy with transmissions, but your behavior toward other people is falling off a cliff.
Before you start in on me with the names and other bullshit, remember that I have already seen and read what you wrote about me in the back room. Have to admit, it bothered me for a long while, because I figured we were (mostly) friends here. But like Todd, I know whats what.

Ah sh*t. Here we go again. TheBac, I totally agree with you on what forums "should" be, as per your 09' quote. That's just not the case. We are all competitive guys, and that is why we are on this forum, so we can beat other guys... I get sick of asking a question and being treated like a dumbass cuz I didn't know the answer already, but that is the whole reason for this forum, learning what works from other peoples experiences and knowledge. It just sucks that alot of the knowledgeable guys are kinda arrogant *****s now.

I started this thread for discussion of why everyone was so pissy on the forums, and why they didn't handle things over the phone or in person? It seems to take away the friendly atmospere of people helping other people to take our D-maxes to the next level. I can honestly say that I learned 90% of what I know about my Duramax from these Forums. As of late, I just have a real hard time finding useful information, because every thread turns into an internet battle royale.

This place was like family with others as "good friends" or so I thought
What pissed me off I was booted as as mod for admitting/asking a question. I mentioned I had the same password at a bearded dragon fourm that I joined a year ago while my youngests dragon was sick. We all agreed to change them here years ago because of a "breech" I screwed up & reused it(my bad) then mentioned it. HOWEVER in the same thread 3 other CURRENT mods admitted the same EXACT thing, yet only I got booted. No explanation from me & my pm's to Pat & Kat were ignored. Hence my "kicked to the curb"
I don't want to see the other guys go because they are not hard feelings. Someone should have just manned up & said it time for a change...Todd you have been removed instead of the "chickenshit" way it was handled. That was the higher ups. And kudos to Simon & you Tom for speaking up. The others are scared of their status.
I truely hope this board will go back to Pats reasons for starting it. These new people deserve what I had when I started. For 5 monthes I was gone & followed a few on FB. There is less drama there.

Off my soapbox, now that's off my chest. I will try to keep my posts to a minimum as to keep chickenshit stuff off the board, any help you need post or call me I'll help anyway I can as I ALWAYS have.

And even more of them gone from here. I should say the make "guest" appearences every so often. That is to problem the guys that are not jerks watch what they say which affects the experience the newer users get

I would agree with what others have said. Very few of the front running guys post anymore, because they either get flamed from the know it alls with a 400 hp truck or from competitive shops or from someone who doesn't approve of the vendors you choose. Used to be a bunch of hot rodders who helped each other go faster, now it seems more like every other forum. I miss seeing posts from camomax, stingpuller, Simon, pat, mike l and many other fast guys that would share info to help everyone. There is still the odd thread, but not like it used to be. Maybe it's the nature of business and can't be done any longer, but there are a lot of guys who have left also.

Exactly my point. You could include Trent, IdahoRob, Ben, Dustin, DocHoliday, and even Jess/Buck plus so many others in that. All Ive learned about these trucks I owe to others here and at DP over the years. I knew if I asked a question here (and I seem to have a lot of dumb ones compared to most), someone would know the answer. Now, you either get ignored, or a damn flame war starts or multiple people writing "subscribed" around here.

Robert, you just proved my point. We're all part of this, all contribute to it. If there is a problem here that nobody wants to talk about, does that solve the problem? Hell no. But mocking sure as hell doesnt help. Lets have a civil discourse for once. I love this "hobby", met a lot of great people over the years.

So, whether it be a vendor not giving good customer service, or a customer who has an issue, or the forum itself kind of dying out, how do we fix these problems?

Sorry Tom, My bad . There is no fix , there are a million reasons that people stop posting, reading, or using this or any other fourms so unless you contact each one of those people/business you never will know. One thing for sure is that an internet fourm is not the place to settle any kind of personal or business dispute period. I'd sure like to say I wont read/comment on anymore of these opinion/personal biased threads again, but that wont happen. As soon as you can tell a thread has gone down the path of lose-lose just stop reading that was my point, good info and help still happens here as well as other diesel fourms you always have to sift thru the crap!
