In the spirit of things, after seeing the thread about remembering 911, where were you when it took place? I was getting ready to graduate boot camp in Ft. Sill Oklahoma, I had just finished cleaning my rucksack and lbv getting ready for turn in when our battery commander gathered us up and told us. A day I'll never forget.

I was driving in my Camaro to a job site to do some work and happened to be listening to the radio that morning which I didn't normally do. It was was dark out since I live in California (5:30am or so???) when I heard about the first tower.

One of the only times I worked on my B-day, usually I take this week off. Delivered to my first stop of the morning. Saw the 2nd plane hit the tower on a little b-n-w TV there. The rest of the day was surreal. No planes overhead. Everyone glued to their TVs, even at work. I kept getting updates as I worked the route.

The only other day that was even as closely strange to that was when the east coast had the big blackout in 2003. That blackout was stopped in the town I mainly delivered in-- Portland, MI. Weird.

Just came in from playing football before school started. Walked in and sat down in freshman history and the teacher made us all quiet down abruptly and then proceeded to tell us that something horrible was happening in new York and we need to watch and remember

Mr klossner told us as soon as we got to class.

I was in 6th grade. We went from 1st period to 2nd period and then the teacher had the tv on in the class. They put the school on lockdown and parents had to come pick us up direct they werent running any busses.

Almost identical as me.

I was in 7th grade walking into 2nd period and the tv was on. Teacher was glued to it. The principal said it was a distraction and ordered teachers to turn the tv's off and continue teaching. I was too young to really realize the severity of what had happened.

Freshmen year in high school. First period was Mrs Wade's English class. Hated her, yet that day was the only day she broke her teaching routine and we just sat planted watching the tv.

I was taking some classes at the local junior college at the time and didn't have any classes until around noon that day. I was still living with my parents at the time and came down stairs around 9:00 and turned on the TV. They were showing footage and talking about the first plane hitting the tower. About that time while they were showing live footage, the second plane flys into the picture and hits the second tower. It was so surreal. The whole day was just crazy. I still remember it like it was yesterday. The world definitely changed that day. I remember when I was in school doing assignments and having to ask my parents and grandparents about stuff that happened during their life like Pearl Harbor and the JFK assassination. I never imagined there would be something like that in my life that my kids (if I have any) will ask me about.

Geez, you guys are making me feel old. I was at the workman's comp doctor with a ballsack covered in poison oak.

We will add you to the geezer club with Ken and Mike. I think Tom is vying for a spot in it too. You guys can be the new recruits. Give me a few years, and I'll join you.

I was a freshman in HS. 1st period teacher came running in the room and turned the tv on. We watched the news on every class that day. It was the only time I wasn't happy to be watching tv in class. I watch the tv specials every year on the anniversary. Never forget.

Third grade in Mrs Stacks class and my mom came and picked me up. I remember watching all the reruns but not actually understanding what was going on...

Try being old enough to be their parent. Cripes.

As for the second part of your post, that sounds like an "interesting" story. Just that one line made me cringe.
