I think your on the right track with some tire/wheel combo and a tune. There is an old black 1/2 ton chevy van with a 383 and nos running 10's. Yours should hit 12's easy with some good traction. Just make some initial runs to see where your at with your reaction time and 1/8 mile times. Don't go for broke till you get an idea of what the trans will do first. There is a company that builds a manual shift 4l80e that stands up to 2000hp so, Mike, I am sure can build you one to do as good or even better.

There was a white express running this last weekend and he was running low 13s.Had bfg's on it too and i heard him spinning off the line pretty good.

lotsofmiles if the lift pump runs only on start ups im sure that you could run a constant hot wire to it and put it on a switch so that you could make it run all the time when you wanted:D

I want to get a motor/trans combo out of a van to swap into something. I think it would work pretty good in a light weight rig with the right gearing. 500 HP/800 ft-lbs in a 3000 lb car or compact truck would be a lot of fun.
