What's it going to take to have a 500RWHP 12 sec dmax van?

Yea, I talked a little to Mike before it went in for the transnission replacement. It is still under warranty so it was on GM's dime and they wouldnt have anything to do with any aftermarket stuff going in it before they put it in.

Would a set of slicks be enough for traction, or am I looking at bars too?

Or am I thinking to much, put the exhaust on tune it, and see what it does stock first, then make adjustments?

A couple passes wont hurt too much right?

My philosophy on how to go fast is: Find a problem, then fix it.

HP might not be your problem.

If you can get it to hold the power, I think a 4L85E is a better transmission for racing.

Anything is possible with enough $$$:D I am not sure what it would take to make sure the transmission holds. Traction bars would be a good investment. Do the vans have the 11.5" Rear Axle or the 10.5"? If the doghouse comes out, it should be fairly easy to access the turbo if you decide to change it.

rear end is stamped:

One battery is already located half way back. GM put it under the body on frame rails behind drivers seat.

Only one battery is under hood.

Dont feel bad, when the first trans was replaced the dealer called and asked me 'if it had a second battery somewhere'

Glad you brought those topics up.

1- the charger - I've thought about that, and may do it. But I'm kinda on board with the thought of "what can the stock one do"

2 - Traction- I've noticed that driving in the winter here in MI my empty cargo van seems to have always had better traction than my LBZ cc/lb 2wd truck. Some of the van guys over at DP seem to agree. I could experiment a little, put a couple hundred pounds in back and still have a weight advantage over the trucks.

and 3 - the trans- Does anyone know what the stock trans with a transgo hold? Or should I not even try that route?

i have ~2000lb of balast int he rear of my 2wd pickup... with that i can to 15psi launched easly and not spin

just filling up my tank i notice a diffence between empty and full 60l in bed tank @ 7lb a gl is 420lb of fuel

i have a station wagon as well... by nature has more traction over the 2D and 4d counter parts.

Pardon me for saying so, but according to Pat's HP calculator, you're only going to need 440rwhp to get a 12.91, what with your 6000lb weight. I'd put a set of slicks and traction bars on it and have at it.

See if you can open up the airbox a bit, or even take a page from some of the more creative people and use PVC tube to make your own. Add a lift pump, exhaust and a tune.
Biggest expense is going to be the trans. Have Mike build you one, or at least ask him to send you to a shop he approves of to do the work.

If you wipe out the rear axle, then you can always buy an 11.5 and mod the driveshaft to fit.

Yea, I was plugging numbers in the calc for a while. They said that the calc was most accurate for 4wd trucks I believe, and they didnt know how accurate for 2wd van. But its gotta be close.

Open the airbox? More than it is? That's a pic in my sig of the van airbox, its open all the way across the front. I was thinking of buying a hood and having a body shop make me a ram air hood. Force the air coming up over the front right into the airbox. Kind of like the banks superscoop on my lbz.

I like Mcrats thinking too, find a problem then fix it. If this were a truck it would be no-brainer all the way. Its been done, many times over. But its seems to have some unknowns.

I think I found some 10 inch wide wheels, not going to jump yet.

Going to ask some questions when I have the exhaust done too.

I meant both all the way back to help wt transfer. every little bit helps over rear wheels

Is it only used for filter changes?

Man our trucks need that WTF why do vans get it!!!

I cant believe how easy the fuel filter change is on the van compared to the truck. I bought the van in 06 the truck in 07. So I already had a couple filter changes done on the van by the time I bought the truck.

The van filters are underneath on the frame rails near the 2nd battery.

I'm still cursing GM every time I change the truck fuel filter. And the stupid unscrew the screw, hand pump, what a pain. The van - change the filters, turn the key on for a minute, go.

I think I put a pic of the van fuel filters in the "red-headed step children" group pics
