For a single go with an s472 and when you have a built bottom end you can change the cover to get an s475. Or triples with the s472 and two s366s.:woott:

As far as twins go s480 over stock.

P.S. you just HAD to capitalize your sig, didn't you? :roflmao:

ok sounds good! thanks for the advice man def helps me a lot! Are those two pretty decent streetable setups?

hahaha ya I figured it would be a lot easier for people to read than just keep being asked whats done to the truck lol

Mike's motor was a complete freak of nature. Yes there are some trucks that hold together at the power level for a time but there are a ton more you haven't heard about that haven't. It's a complete crap shoot. That being said if you can afford your truck to be down then go for it! If not, it's better safe than sorry.

Once you have that kind of power, I found its really difficult to not play with it :woott:

My vote is S472

Yes his def was! I liked watching his truck in action that thing was very impressive I thought! but ya I agree its sometimes hard to not have a heavy foot with power like that. im usually pretty careful with my stuff I don't beat on it a lot lol shes my baby :baby:

Throw a 366 on with stock fuel and be done with it. That can get you around 600hp but not give you enough fuel to let you really try to push it. You can still blow it up but maybe it will live a little longer.

Originally that's what my plan was but then I had a couple turbo builders tell me not to run a s300 frame because they seem to not be as reliable as the s400 frames? idk if that's true or not that's why I came on here for some help about it.

If you're absolutely dieing to upgrade turbos I would go with a 468 cast or FMW; possibly upgrade to an S472.
You'll get decent driving manners and more power when you want it.

With my modified IHI's(stock or 63.5), I cringed every time I got on the dyno in fear of my motor popping. It's all a luck of the draw, some get luck some don't.

Yellowchevy

ok sounds good thanks!

My lb7 has lasted 180,000 miles with s366 and max effort tuning. The truck has 280k on it. They can last, but if you beat on it all the time, it will pop. My truck actually went thru a built sc trans.. For you disbelievers out there. It was making enough power to eventually limp a stage V trans... It's since been upgraded to the latest gmax unit.

This is a hardcore racing forum, the guys are quick to tell you to build your motor (and with good reason) but not everyone wants to build a motor first. Bottom line, it's your truck and if you want to have fun with stock motor and push it to the limit, go ahead. I'm not gonna lie it's fun as hell to feel 600hp alive. But you have been warned:D

Ya if I had the money to build it I would lol but I don't, and I kind of wanted to have the fuel and air mods taken care of first so its out of the way and done, so that when it came time to do the motor I could focus on that and really try and save my money for my build. it was kind of a plan I had in my head for a while, but it would be nice to have a bit more fun before the truck was down for a couple months or how ever long it took to do lol

Whoever told you the 300 frames dont hold up well was right, if you do a turbo swap go with a 400 frame. I would stick with a single and have it tuned for upper rpm power and limit the torque, especially down low, thats what bends rods. The twin setups make more low end torque so I'd stay away from them untill your ready to do the bottom end. I've been thinking of putting a 400 frame on my lb7 to clean up all the fuel, it smokes like a train at wot in my race tune, but im not ready to go bendy yet...

They are not as reliable or robust, that is true. However on stock fuel it would be hard to hurt one by overspeeding. I have almost 50k miles on my previously used 366 and it is still tight. Besides, a rebuild on a 300 is cheap and very easy to do. Less than $150. Daily drives very well, does great.

A 400 frame would be a good choice as well if you are planning on making big power some day.

Ya that's what I will probably do is get a 400 frame. Ya I wondered if that's why rods bend so bad if it was all the low end torque causing it. if a 400 frame turbo gets tuned for higher rpm wont they be pretty laggy tho?

Ive heard the s366 are only reliable if used in a compound set up? but your probably right on stock fuel I doubt you would over spin it.

It's just ran as a single. !400 is for the charger, I'm running a HSP Single kit.

How do you like their kits? I was thinking of going through them for one or with SDP or Wehrli.

The only problem I had was the holes in the pedestal overlapped slightly with the pipes on the other side, but it's my understanding they've fixed it. Other than that the kit is excellent!

Not to laggy, my buddy had a 480 on his lly and it wasnt bad at all. He dynoed 640 a few times on diffrent dynos, he was lucky it didnt come apart before he sold it though. Caleb tuned it to live by keeping torque down at low rpm...

That's who I will probably go with for my kit. their work looks pretty sweet.

That's a pretty good number! He def lucked out not blowing something up lol. Ill have to talk to my tuner and see if he can do the same.

366s are damn good chargers. Problem is to many people throw to much fuel at them without gating them or watching drive pressure. I'd run a 366 over a 466 any day of the week. Only thing I suggest is doing the upgraded bearing. The 369 is looking pretty bad ass also. I have a 476 single and am hating it more and more.
