What does it cost to build a World Record Breaker Motor?

I guess you have to decide what record you are after. Drag racing record, salt flats record, towing record, pulling record, dyno record. And probably some more I haven't heard of. I can see if you pay total retail and use the most expensive shops you could easily get 30K+ in a 1000 hp+ engine. How many of us actually do that? And Verlon is correct, any engine making that kind of HP at WOT has a very limited life. We are talking minutes not hours.

If an engine like that only lasts minutes at WOT it should at least be 25% cheaper than new since I'm estimating that 25% of its minutes are used up already!

I've been thinking the same thing this whole time just was not gonna say anything. Lmao. But since there happens to b a post about it why not ! 35000. Wow!!

WOW Um ya just imagine dropping that 35k and heavens forbid something happened Or you had some buyers remorse and the restocking fees!

For that money Id want a complete teardown with certification! If you think about it PPE wouldn't resell a box of rods but yet they will sell a engine ,USED, without even a hesitation! No documentation ,NOTHING! For full on retail!

Basically we've all seen the customer services you'll get in addition! It is trailer trash pulling WORLD RECORDING HOLDING THO!

I grabbed my calculator, my last motor had 257 passes between 10.8 and 11.2. If I use 11 flat as an average, that's 47 minutes at wot. Add in some horsing around and getting tuning logs at best it's double that, probably less.

I think 1k power can be done for a lot less also. This diesel stuff is off the hook!!! 35k will buy anyone a bad a$$ gas motor that will make 2k possible 2500 turn key. It wouldn't have any stock parts for that price also. It's just a matter of what someone wants and how quick they want it.

So Cal.
I'm talking brand spanking new not "used" but a 1000 RWHP painted your color .not gold plated or anything fancy like that ,but a sleeper so to speak.

You can get a Socal Stage II for $18,400 then for say another $10 K on pushing some air and fuel at it your up to $28K . That is just off the shelf parts.

For 28K and a good tuner you have to have a World Record Breaker no MATTER what World Record you were going after!

I bet you can do it for a whole lot cheaper then that also!NO?

Or am I way out in left field and it's a lot more then that what I posted and should grab a deal on a USED one ,that's saying a USED one was to come to market as there aint many Word Record Breaking motors on the market.

What kind of Junk turbos and fueling are you going to get for 10k?:roflmao:

Just the two Garrett Ball bearing turbos used in this kit are $7000. This is not including the install kit, waste-gate, manifolds and up-pipes, coolant tank, inter-cooler and ++ :hello:

Ok let’s use the engine you listed as an example with retail pricing....

So.... Stage 2 engine $18,400 PLUS CORE
PPE Twin turbo package std Big kit $15,500.
This kit has a second waste-gate on it they are about $550.00 plus the fab work to install it, lets call it $700.00 total

So just right here we are at $34,600.

BUT WAIT! We still don't have any fuel to drive this beast, So.....

Dual Cp3 kit with second pump $2350.00
Custom Injectors/Tips (balanced, custom tips) $2500.00-$3000
Misc fittings, feed line kits, $100

Now we are at $39,800.

OPP's! Almost forgot the removal/install of all the parts on the engine (this engine is drop-in ready)

Custom down pipe (custom for each truck engine year) to exhaust (not hood stack like Dmitri's)

All fuel lines (Feeds, plug and Play) custom.

I am going to be very conservative on the labor (I was quoted 3.5-4 full days) as there is a lot of custom parts so this kit will drop in and these big kits usually do not keep the AC (not normally kept in a race app) This one does...

$1500-$2000 (it should be $2660+)

So I'm SURE i'm forgetting some stuff but this should get us close at $41,450. (Mackin, take you shoe’s off and use your toes if needed or just use a calculator)

This is not including the GOLD PLATING and World Record Status…. Like someone said be for that HAS to be worth 10K…….:D

Your not buying brand new injectors and enough air with 10k. Since he's asking new prices. Stuff gets stupid priced. Don't think Socals motor includes a girdle or 625's either. I'd also want billet hold downs after popping an injector on mine.

Bingo!!! :thumb:

I don't see the money in it but who knows maybe the other 7 gs in in the intercooler they are throwing in.

:hello:

With decent pricing and a good shop, Engine with forged pistons and the works with capable compounds, you should be in the 15-18k range for the package depending on the turbos you choose for it.

Still alot of money, and at a 1000rwhp your only going to see 10-15 minutes of use at that power level.

Please show me how you came up with these numbers? ;)

Depreciation is a bitch

So are SLOW twin turbo trucks.....:D

I think the turbo kit alone is 10g's. But why ask new price for something used is what i do not understand. YES it is the best of everything but it is still not new by any means so asking new prices like was stated doesn't make any sense:confused:

New over 15K.....

I've been thinking the same thing this whole time just was not gonna say anything. Lmao. But since there happens to b a post about it why not ! 35000. Wow!!

:woott:

not to step on any toes but this type of machine work is around for lots less than big name shops.

Jess, Not around here.....

Plus core is the deal breaker :D

maybe you should call Guy and complain then....:D

I have to disagree.... Sorry! I have seen engine setups very close to this making over 1500RWHP last a couple of seasons.:thumb:

Red crayon for you.... Ya Imagine if you bought a New/Used truck form GM and had buyers remorse for 50K... I wonder what GM would do? My guess NOTHING! ;)

Not full retail and guess what? We know EXACTLY what has been done/not done to this engine, and how conservative the tuning was....

So your selling a 40-42,000 dollar motor for 35,000 used??? Thats what you have stated. Well lets use a truck for example here, if you went out and bought a brand new chevy silverado z71 1/2 ton for 40k and drove it 5k miles you WOULD not get 35k for it used. Race motors depreciate alot more than vehicles... Dan the motor is nice and has the top of the line parts but i would think 30k asking price would have been a little more reasonable. GLWS im sure some 18 year old kid will buy it and ask if your Hot+2 will make it MUCHO SMOKE:D

Trents ultimate race turbo kit is 8k and is advertised at 1200 rwhp

I agree 100% but that was not what this engine was built for...

Just a heads up these large twin kit are capable of OVER 1500RWHP+ that is just under 2000K at the crank.
