Yeah I didn’t mess around. If I didn’t do it now, it would be a year or more before I decided to do it .

Now I can get back to working in the garage. This will keep momma happy.... for a while lol

Wives are never happy for very long.:baby: You must trick them. Lie to them. Schmooze them. Sad but true.

Well I just signed the check on this one for now. The wife is getting tired of me and all my projects. Honestly those beams wouldn’t of been any fun, so I’m happy to write a check. I will be doing the rest of the work. Electric, tongue and groove ceiling, pavers, and who knows what else.

No a ton of obvious progress. Getting the ground ready for pavers. We have crappie ground down here, so I stabilized the soil. Like what we do while building roads out here. Mix lime in the clay to break it down into fine dirt. Then mix Portland into the dirt to basically turn it into concrete. I rolled out some Geo fabric and spread 6 tons of limestone base out this weekend, but forgot to take a picture. My goal was to make the padio stable enough I can park ATVs on it. I probably got a little carried away and it will handle a lot more. I'm waiting on pavers now.

Well we put our home up for sale (actually more me deciding that and then conning my wife into agreeing with me ). Decided this a couple months ago and started the hunt for a place. Not really looking for a larger home but more the fact we wanted more land and I wanted a damn shop. This meant getting out of town more which I didn’t mind.

We spent 3 weeks looking and every time we thought we found one, it was sold before we could even go see it. We were feeling rushed over it and didn’t like that idea. Suddenly found a new build just north of town on an acre lot. It popped up that day and I hauled ass to the home. Well two things happened... the address given was wrong and was in 3 different locations, miles apart, depending on the map you used (Zillow, google maps, Apple). Other issue was it was not built, it was just a wood frame. I found the house after a little detective work and wife and I checked it out. We both liked it and met the builder out there. Come to find out, it’s a custom home and since it was still early in the build, he offered to let us have full rein on changes or upgrades if we wanted. We made an offer and he accepted. Sweet!!!

Needless to say, it’s been hectic as hell the last month plus. Between work being absolutely slammed, getting the old house prepped for sale and picking things out for the new place, we’ve hardly had time to really think lol. Add in the two kiddos and we are whooped at the end of the day.

Anyhow, here’s where it is as of today. Due to be done by end of November.

Course, my favorite place below lol. 3 car garage with additional 220v 50amp outlets and more 110 outlets.

I had them also upgrade the main panel to 400 amp since we will be building a shop in the back once we finalize on the house and move in. Cant wait!

Congrats Jane that’s awesome! I want to get out of town with some land, but my wife is very reluctant. With our special needs son it’s probably not going to happen any time soon.

Thanks guys!

What a damn headache all this is though!!

Dozer, does he have to see specialists or something that keeps you in town? no need to reply back if you rather keep it personal. Wife trained and degreed in taking care of special needs children as well as teaching them.

Congrats James, looks like an awesome place.

My wife and I have bought (5) acres and will be putting our current home up for sale in March. Kids are all moved out, house is too big and the shop is too small.

We looked for an existing home, that was smaller, but either had a larger shop, or the ability to build one. After (18) months of striking out, we began to look at vacant land.

I want a 40'x60'x16' shop. To be able to build an "accessory building" of that size we found it easier to buy land in the next county to the east of us, fewer restrictions and more favorable property tax schedule. Long story, but we needed to have between 3.1 and 5 acres (zoned agricultural) to build the size shop we want. so we ended up with (5).

We closed on the property in April, but C19 threw a monkey wrench into trying to pull off any build this year. We are in no hurry, plan is to break ground on the house 4/1/21. We may do the shop earlier, depending on what the frost laws look like this year. If the shop finishes first, we can proceed with the sale of our house. Put our RV in the shop, and live on site while the house is built. Just the wife and I, so a few months of "shop camping" should be tolerable. Time will tell LOL.

We will be acting as our own GC, should it will be a very busy 2021.

Thats pretty awesome! i had dreams of a 50x60x16 shop in the back, not too sure that size will happen but we will see. At min it will be 50x40x16. id like to have it built and have cash left over for a lift, tire machine/balancer, brake lathe, and maybe a mill w/ some tooling if i find a good deal. Ill know where we stand once the house is done and the old one is sold. Erin went from "budget minded" on interior stuff to "yup, thats over the standards offered, yup that too, yup same there" :ROFLMAO: . Thats ok, ill make it work if i can for her.
