I know at one time UPS built their own and destroyed them when past their useful age. Notice you never see retired UPS trucks. I have seen a few lately with International front ends so not sure if they build em for them selves anymore.
Today I am building a rack in our video inspection truck to hold the real for a smaller camera above the main camera real. These are robots that crawl and video pipe.
I was driving home from work last week, on the 5 fwy through Burbank and saw something unusual. I come up on three trucks and I thought when did UPS paint their delivery trucks gray. I get up along side of them and they were brand new no plates Amazon vehicles. I swear these looked identical to a UPS truck like Tom's.

I know of Workhorse and Freightliner currently. Drivetrains on the new ones in our center are either GM 4.8, GM 6.0 or Ford V10 depending on truck size. My new one is GM 6.0/Allison. The Alli needs some MikeL or Evan love.....
Yes, when they're retired, useful parts get removed, they get painted with housepaint and taken straight to the crusher.
FedEx, Amazon and us all use the same make trucks. I just do my job, whether its there or here. But thanks for the nice words.
I've read somewhere that Grumman or someone similar makes the UPS trucks. They buy chassis from whomever at the time, have the body put on them, and when finished because of certain looks to avoid fraud (and most likely liability) they have them destroyed when useful life is over. UPS at one time fought with the body builder to keep the iconic round headlights and front end.
I thought the same thing. This is my wife's work parking lot. This is a small parking lot and I have a hard time parking my crew cab and then getting out. They parked near the entrance/exit but still a pain with the size of it.

My buddy who runs the powdercoat place across the street bought him a new GMC AT4 a few weeks ago and ordered the wrong hitch, his multi-fold tailgate hit it. He ordered the right one and told me I could have this one for my '03 if I could make it work. I had to cut the 2 1/2" tubing off and weld on 2" and also cut the bottom two holes off because it was too long. He repainted it for me, told him to make it different
First damn day back from vacation, hit a 10pt buck with my new truck. Popped out of a thicket next to the road. Needless to say, I'm not happy.

He did initially. One of my route friends is a state trooper, and he stopped out to help. The buck had broken legs or back, so my friend killed it with his sidearm. Hopefully I can get the antlers from whoever took the carcass.
Technically it’s your trophy. Glad you’re ok, though.
