Adam,
Glad you got that straightened out. Sorry to hear that the MFG could not get it straight.
Wonder how that axle got bent. That's almost impressive the way it's bent between the bearings and not between the spindle and the spring. Wonder if it was a bad spindle from the MFG that was off material spec.

Any issues using those slipper springs vs shackle hanger springs with equalizer beam between the axles?

There's double eye springs for 8k that are starting to become common now... Eye/slipper is definitely more common on 7k and up suspension

They used to make 3.5" wet/grease able bolts that allows grease to be put in the eyes.. if you run light duty hangers you can run 3" wet bolts.. my stuff is 1/4- 5/16" thick vs 1/8-3/16" thick hangers... means longer bolts and Not get grease in there sucks..
equalizer is ~40.00 each.. bushing $10-15 for 4

The whole suspension design isn't really set up for 100k miles year duty cycle.. usually doing equalizer and bushing around 50-60k mark

Getting a hutch style leave spring or ride well air suspension would last substantially longer.. that's ~5k investment that doesn't need done right now

Understood. If it were your workhorse, I could see going air suspension, however that also means either on board air or swapping to air brakes. Again since its not your workhorse, its not really worth it.

Wonder if the RV world makes a wet bolt kit that will fit your setup?

Was looking at wet bolts for the RV and found these, but have not measured what I need yet. https://www.summitracing.com/ga/par...aZV_4pXnSt1MXRlfPzQKwu9d3OQc03toaAttrEALw_wcB

That's your common length bolt for light stuff with 2" wide springs.. take a tape measure the outside width of the hanger
For 9/18-3" wet bolt
126B2 will go to etrailer and most
126B2LN is redneck.

Call the guys at Nationwide trailers in Houston Texas.. they can ship you stuff they need or road trip up there..
A lot of the HS guys I talk to in passing conversation on the FB forums, buy parts off them and or have them service their trailers

And yeah air ride would be nice but it's not the end of the year and I'm looking for tax write-offs

It does look good. Great workmanship. Though I personally am not a great fan of the crosses. Much prefer a staggered look.

What did I do today.....
Nothing fun..
The boss/owner/HMFIC of the company passed on 2/28 at 49yo, left behind wife and two boys/young men now..
one has taken interest in the trucking company and other the farm, both are mid 20s. which both stepped up in April last year when boss had to "retire" medically

He'd been battling Glioblastoma multiforme, type of brain cancer since January '17..

Viewing was today, and we plant him tomorrow..
I'm told he will be given his last ride via our pink n grey cancer truck. Which would be fitting

It's been said that one can judge a persons life by who shows up at your viewing.. there was an avg ~1 hour wait to pay ones respects.. the community well definitely miss him..

Sorry for your loss Adam. Losing someone in any way is one of the greatest pains in life. I’m sure his family was encouraged and uplifted despite the circumstances with that kinda of a turnout at the viewing. Also, it’s encouraging me to hear both the boys have stepped up. Being around my age, it’s very rare for me to see that happening in this world. Little bit of faith in humanity restored.

Sorry to hear, Adam. Condolences to you and his family. You are 100% right about a person's life and the viewing/funeral.

That's terrible, sorry to hear it Adam. :(

Glad there's someone that's going to try to take over operations for him. Hope those young men grow up fast and are surrounded by other folks who want to see them succeed and will help bring them along with their businesses. :thumb:

Definitely, his oldest been pulled 80-90% of the strings.. think his mom is head in charge.. he's not his father.. nor has the experience, but has matured and grown remarkably..

That's going out in style...

I lost my mom to the same type of brain tumor, it's a terrible way to go, I'm sorry you had to expirence it. Life is fair nor easy but I'm certain that God has his plan for us and even after my fathers sudden passing last Christmas I still have faith. Keep yours close to heart (we all know you have a big heart Adam) and encourage his children to hold onto theirs as best you can...
