Got into a big argument with my boss over overtime hours today. They want us under 9.5/hr day, yet continue to dispatch us with more work than that, then put the onus on us when we're over the new made-up "goal".
Im just not going to tolerate being pressured and pushed to work faster and less safely like some rookie. Ain't gonna happen.

Ask one of the supers to prove they can do it while following the rules. Otherwise, tell them when you hit 9 its back to the center to avoid breaking the 9.5hr max imposed rule (unless its more than .5 ht back to the center), and they can deliver the rest of the packages, and make sure they do not break 9.5 hrs to get the OT otherwise you can claim the Me2 clause and get paid to sit at home drinking beer. :D

Take it up with the local on site union rep (steward?) and if that gets you no where call the BA and file a grievance.

Crappy way to deal with them, but sometimes its what it takes for them to realize they have unobtainable goals.

Well I've been at my new job 7 months and love it. Passed probation. Now studying to be a Reg 4 tester for the district. Test is next month and if I pass everything that's a 5-1/2% differential pay increase. Our union also agreed to the new contract. That means 3% back pay for 7 months and come July 1st a $6/hr.raise also. Can't get any better than this right now. Great group of people in the department that I work in.

No pics, but a good day out with some friends at a hunt club we all worked at growing up. Shot some birds, bunnies, and the shit for a few hours. Our old boss is still working it every day, it was a cool place to work, and a lot of interesting people to talk to.

Woke up at 6am, got ready for work, shoveled the driveway, then went into ups.

Drove around in the snow out in the country for 10 hours, actually had some fun doing it.

Then stopped by Mom's house on the way home to get the mail and shovel the driveway (so it looks like someone's home).

Got home at 8pm. Just another day....

Set 88 sq ft floor tile and 100sq ft on shower walls today

Man I wish I could knock it out like that. I’d go broke if I was a tile guy. I’m doing good doing 90sf a day at my house. After doing that on Saturday and Sunday I’m ready to go back to work on Monday and take it easy.

I can lay the tile satisfactory for me but I cannot get the technique down pat for doing the grout. It stays too wet in the gap so when I sponge it, it gets squeezed around and looks like assss (Admittedly, I am a perfectionist). If I let it set enough, the shit skimmed on the tile won't come off with just a sponge. Drives me nuts.

Lol you wouldn’t go broke. 90 sq ft is still a good day, going rate is $5 per ft just to set floors here. Have 50 cents per ft in mortar and grout, still have a $400 day! When you do it everyday for the past 6 years speed comes with it. I can honestly say I love my job, stuck with it ever since high school and glad I did. It’s a trade that doesn’t require apprentice hours or any testing. As long as you know what your doing and confident in it your good

Sounds like your mix is a little wet. Are you using sanded or unsanded grout?

finally got my but in gear and fixed/upgraded my steel Kauffman trailer... been needing new hangers and its tracked right couple inches since Kauffman did warranty work 8 month after I bought it... also aligned it.. and two new springs
2 100' laser levels

plumb line and I leveled the trailer left to right with an angle finder.. and found center between the two laser dots.. Kaufman builds the running gear on a sub frame then welds the sub frame to the I-beam.. found the welded the DS 5/8" too far forward.. thrust center line was roughly 5" to the PS at the plumb line.. I didnt bother to check alignment between the two axles

someone bent a spindle at some point... was used around the farm for a while.. ive only over loaded it twice in 7 years ive owned it and it got promptly unloaded...

bought new 82/64 axle that was complete.. and stripped it for the beam, faster and cheaper than waiting for a beam to get made and shipped..
3 different styles of 4,000lb leaf springs.. middle one matched the front... top have 3/4" OD nylon bushing that don't last. bottom one came with the axle.. has a steel sleeve and rubber bushing.. doesn't match the front springs..
