Yep Tom the Luffer "V part in this case" is added length of boom that we can add to the main hydro boom to further increase our radius and capacity. It's lighter than normal crane boom which helps at max radius situations. A 10' piece of steel pipe is heavy, but if that 10' was half the size, it's lighter and just as strong. We can add up to 250' of luffer to this crane. With everything in it, it has right at 350,000 lbs of counterweight. It's a big gal.

I am so jealous of you guys... most exciting thing I’ve done lately is pull 4 separate runs of 4 wires of 350mcm for a harbor freight service

Thanks for the explanation, guys. All I know is it looks like a damn big piece of machinery.

I just drive around a 5 ton truck and act like an elf all day. :roflmao:

Yeah it's the serial number 1 for the first gmk7550 in the country, and Arizona's largest hydro crane. I got a couple mega wing pics I'll throw up.

It's a zoo with the amount of trucks we need to get that crane moved in, but we have great dispatch and planning ahead of time for up to 20 semis of parts.

Those always make me look twice. Looks like someone slapped the ground with the buffer bending it while booming up.

Our little 1,600 tonne machine took about 160 trucks to deliver it to site.

From the files of the "Weird and Absurd on Tom's Route".........

Today I saw a two-headed calf at my large-animal vet. She was still-born, unfortunately. No, no pics. Sorry.

This was Friday but it the forecast was somewhere around 6” of snow and 25 mph winds. Put us somewhere around 5 degrees. These tracks aren’t bad to install, maybe hour and half altogether but as we all know rubber isn’t friendly when it’s cold!
