Yes, I'm just running the stock fuel filter right now. I'm debating on if I want to do the mega filter like I had on my dually or not.
I think it's worth it if you want a lift pump...I'm debating on putting it on my 09 lmm
Oh dang!!!Oh come on. That's not even that dirty compared to mine....

A few minutes in a solution of lye (sodium hydroxide) will clean that right up. Then some spray paint and it will look as good as newEpisode #WTFWIT...
What started out as replacing the glow plugs on the driver side turned into lets clean up some other things...
That y bridge was so nasty...
I'm debating on what to do with that y bridge...

Not bad once you un-seat the sealant. As far as cleaning, I use the Highlighter Yellow Harbor Freight Degreaser. But I have a trick!!! I heat it up with a heating element. I mix the ratio 1:1 with water. Also use gloves and don't get it on your skin. It really peals it off other wise. I have a 40 Gallon parts wash tank. So I put 10 gallons of the cleaner and 10 gallons of water.Oh dang!!!
That's bad.
How bad is it to get the runners off?
Being I've got the turbo and y bridge out into the office cleaning them but it's probably not worth it.

I wanted to try the oven but I was afraid it would warp the head. As mentioned I used some harbor freight degreaser and heating element. Took me most of the day to scrub them clean But the heat really helps break down that crap when you scrub it. I let the stuff run in some of the area's and came back after 20-30 minutes and it would wash all the stuff away. In other spots I would have to scrub, rinse and repeat to get them clean.A few minutes in a solution of lye (sodium hydroxide) will clean that right up. Actually, it's not too uncommon for the TDI crowd to clean their intakes with fire. I did it to mine when I put a larger turbo on

Based on the safety data sheet, it looks like a really good cleaner/stripper containing Sodium Metasilicate as it's active ingredientI wanted to try the oven but I was afraid it would warp the head. It's worked well for me. As with any of these cleaners, you have to Neutralize it after wards by flushing it real good with water to prevent it from oxidizing the aluminum. It supposed to be Bio Degradable too...Based on the safety data sheet, it looks like a really good cleaner/stripper containing Sodium Metasilicate as it's active ingredient

Should have seen the ports in the head before I cleaned them. That stuff is like Tar and its hard to get off. But with that cleaner and some brushes, I got nearly all of it out before taking them to the machine shop. Even they gave up trying to clean another set for someone else. They were amazed I was able to clean them that well. Got most of the carbon too!
