Episode #328 of WTF was I thinking...

In my effort to remove the LB7 drone I installed an aero turbine 5050XL muffler/resonator.

Being I already had a resonator installed under the passenger side I installed this muffler back where the straight section is in front of the rear axle.

I've had it on for 2 weeks now and didn't notice any reduction in drone.

Guess the only thing left to do is get a 2015 or newer Duramax...

I had the same muffler with my 472 didn't do much at all even with a resonator in front of it. Now I've got a Hushpower/Pro Series muffler and resonator but it'll still drones.

Quick update
I've been able to drive around with a trailer hooked to it and it's much quieter without a trailer hooked to it. Which I wasn't surprised but I was surprised with how much quiets it is.

Most everyday I'm hooked up to a 20ft extra high enclosed trailer and it gets pretty loud at times.
I've haven't been hooked up to the gooseneck yet to see if it's any different there.

HOLY CRAP!!!
Those Donaldson M101181 mufflers are expensive... Prices I'm seeing range from $776 to $1,006.....
I want to remove the drone but WOW, not sure it's worth it at that price.

JoshH, do you have a line on these some where??? hahaha :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Episode #428

After years of my right rear brake light not working I finally bought a new set.
eBay said they were a fit for my vehicle but that wasn't the case...

There was a section that extended forward where you plug the stock sockets into the taillight but this section would hit a support on my box.

With that said, out came the side cutters, glue gun, and rubber pieces...

It didn't take too long and I was able to get them installed. Glad I got them installed and happy with how they look. Also replaced the side lights and was really happy with those.

I know, I about shit my paints!!!
I was thinking close to $500 worse case but I was wrong.

When I was in high school a neighbor needed a muffler for is forklift so he threw a chain into a piece of 4" square tubing and that quieted it down alot... hahaha Makes me think I should try that...
Or... do I put stakes on it so all that noise goes straight into the air...:unsure:

Your OCD made my eyes twitch, but you're thoroughness was definitely appreciated. It's always nice having the right tool for the job.

I was hoping my OCD (organized chaos disorder) didn't mess you up 😂

Does anyone have any experience with MBRPs quiet muffler?

What does the inside look like? I think the muffler that some higher HP guys liked was the Flowmaster Hushpower

MBRP Quiet Muffler
If you scroll down to the review section the first picture on the left someone put a picture of the inside.

From the picture it just have louvers that look to grab the air that comes through and those said louvers are in a spiral form.
I'll have to look at the flowmaster hushpower

That MBRP is designed the same as the Silverline I have. Install with the baffles facing forward for "quiet", install with the baffles rear-facing for "flow".
