Hey guys, I'm new to weight lifting and I'm looking for some advice as far as a diet for cutting weight/burning fat. I've been going to the gym steadily 4-6 days a week since the beginning of December, and at this point I'm addicted. I love the feeling that comes with lifting. However when I started going to the gym I also changed my diet for the better, I've been eating fairly clean in my opinion, and I haven't seen much in the way of losing some of the fat I'm looking to get rid of. Any advice would be hugely appreciated, I'm just a tadpole compared to most of you guys but I'm jacked to keep hitting the weights and getting stronger. If it helps, my gym routine consists of 10-15 minutes of light cardio and stretching to warm up, followed by weight training. Once that's done I get on the bike and go pretty hard for 20 minutes to an hour.
Thanks again fellas.
Just don't tell that to jesse norris...that mofo has some high volume now. I think he is an anomalyWhat's your goals and what's got height and body weight now?
If you wanting to gain size you need to cut the cardio down a lot..
Generally - less reps more weight adds size, lower weight higher reps tones more.

6'1", 213 on the scale last night. Not so much looking to gain size, I mean that would be great, but I'd like to get rid of the spare tire first.

Ditch the "clean" eating mentality and read up on what leads to fat gain and fat loss.

Essentially body composition is dictated by calories in vs calories out. If you eat more calories than your body needs to maintain its weight, you will gain fat. Regardless if the food is "clean" or not. If you eat less calories than your body needs to maintain weight, you will lose fat.
Depending on what your goals are, whether its hypertrophy or strength, jump on a consistent weight training program and stick to it for a while.
Think of cardio as a tool to increase the size of your calorie deficit.
If youre fairly new to weight training, then it is likely that you will actually gain muscle and lose fat at the same time if youre consistently eating around maintenance calories and training hard.
A good starting point for calories is about 14 calories per gram of body weight. So if you weigh 180 lbs, then shoot for about 2500 calories a day for a week or two and see how your daily weight average changes over the week or two. Aim for close to 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight and fill in the rest of calories from carbs and fat.
