Wastegate or no wastegate for 66/80

I've never really posted on here before. Most of the time I look around and see most of the questions I want to ask have already been answered in previous threads. But I haven't found much info on this subject. I'm currently running a non gated t4 s366 with stock sticks and cp3. I have almost everything ordered for my twin kit I plan on building here shortly. I've asked a lot of local guys on there thoughts for external gating my 366 and always get different answers. So basically do I really need to gate my 366 when putting a 480 over it? I don't plan on doing sticks or dual cp3s any time soon. Not until I at least build the motor.

IMO yes or you could overspeed the 66, with a gate feeding the 80 the 80 will make more boost and you will make more power

Thanks for the input. I had planned on gating the 66 at around 20-25 and let the 80 do the rest since it flows more.

I'd like to hit 625-650 with some of the torque tuned out of it. Very rarely am I on my big tune and don't really beat on the truck so I know it'll last awhile hopefully. I know this setup will easily make 850 with a built motor. The most I tow is a small sled trailer so I'm not worried about that. I plan on building the motor but not for awhile so I figured I'd make the setup now and be ready for when I do build the motor.

I'm making my own kit. I already have the 366 on the truck so it's a matter of making the rest of the piping for the the 480 and adding a wastegate

Thanks I'm itching to start building it. Of coarse I got a 1.32 housing. That hardest thing right now is figuring out what color I want to make it

The turbo has been ordered so as soon as it comes in ill start working on it. I'm sure ill have pictures to share once I get rolling on it. I'm not an average joe that pops up on a forum and claiming to make the best twin kit around. I've been wrenching for over 10 years and currently working as a diesel mechanic. I came from building ls engines until 2 years ago and have some fabrication background. The key is to just take your time and do it right the first time. No one wants to do the same job twice because of rushing or shady work. I'm sure someone will have some criticism on the kit when it's done but you can't please everyone. Thanks for the good lucks and once I get rolling on the kit ill be sure to post up pictures.

I have a 366 480 setup non gated, made 900 with 50% overs and twin pumps. Mark from Danville told me not to gate it.If u have not got a pedastal then get the gated one so u could add it later if u want. I am seeing 62 total boost with around 22 from the 80. I built a 475 over stock on my old truck and its not bad I enjoyed it. It made 630 stock fuel.

with a gate you would see more out of the 80, the harder you can spin the atmo the more power you will make. we have proven this on the dyno several times. this will drop backpressure also....

to each his own though. my turbos make approx 85 and i see about 45 out of my 94mm atmo.

see I have a turbokinectics ped with wastegate port Im going to try and get 70psi and make the 480 work harder by gating around the 66 via the ped this should make my rods finally exit the block:D
