to me gating a turbo(s) its almost pointless to run large A/R housings. since a w/g when open and small housing will function like a large ungated houseing

I picked up power and lowered EGTs driving my HP turbo harder. That's why im gated both my 42 and 55 in the new set up. From what ive seen the harder you drive the "small" turbo (obviously not over speeding it) the more power and more in check the EGTs/drive will be.

So wouldn't gate a 66/74 .90ar with a 80mm with a 1.32 ar?

me on a 366/480 setup
i'd run a 80 with a .90 ar
66 with a .81 or .90 pending how quick i wanted it to spool of line..
40mm gates for both turbos.

i also wouldnt have to worry about high altitude either in lighting the chargers, they would also be extremely responsive to part throttle imputs

me personally i'd like a GT4088 (.85ar)/GT4508 (1.01 ar) but i'd probably do 4202 with a 1.01ar 40mm gates on both.
with the heavy towing i do.. im not giving up the additional cooling of water cooler turbos provide help keep oil temps in check

If I had 4k around for just two turbos id do garretts but I dont and I rarely tow anymore I use the dodge now so oil twmps dont really bother me to much but I plan on putting a 40mm gate on the 66 and sending alot of the pressure to the 480 which I may go down to a 1.10 ar if I feel its to laggy

i hear you on the price. its one thing to get hot oil temps hot footing a 7-8k around.. its another to bury a 250* OT gauge after the first mile of a 7 mile grade weighing ~24k.
also what may not be "laggy" in a 7-8k truck can quite possibly be laggy in a 24k truck

IMO wastegates are a crude version of a VVT/VGT

I've got an non gated 66 .91 A/R right not. I picked up a synapse 50mm gate from a member on here for a good price. I was thing about setting that around 25 give or take a few to help spool the 480 with a 1.32 A/R. Hopefully I can see around 60 psi with the 480 doing around 30-35 psi

Wed night is test and tune. I work afternoon shift though so I can't make it during the week. I usually go out to no et but lately I've just been watching. Not to many trucks show up to that though.

I'm sure I could get some people together and maybe one day head our there. I was hoping to get to have the twins done by now but things keep holding me up. Winter coming so it's time to pick up a sled. So I decided to hold off for a few on the build. All parts are in though for it.
